Hi guys! I'm linking up with Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching to share with you 5 things from my classroom this week! 1. CO-CREATED ALPHABET/NUMBER POSTERS I love making co-created posters with the kids at the beginning of the year. I find that the kids use the resources a lot more too when they are co-created and referred to often! Last year we made these. This year I was inspired by Anamaria from Wonders in Kindergarten. You can see her blogpost about her co-created alphabet here. We followed…

Hi friends! I'm super excited to share with you how I made graphing in Kindergarten fun and independent this year! Every year my kids find graphing super fun and engaging but teaching JK/SK (that’s Pre-K/K for my American friends) it was always hard to make this an independent centre. This year I found a solution that worked well! Here is how I taught it: Day 1: Learning Goals & Success Criteria First I introduce the learning goal "We are learning to make graphs". This activity is from Mrs. Robinson's Classroom Blog: Meaningful First Week Activities. I love this idea and would eventually make anchor charts to keep up all year. Kitchen Ideas, Third Grade, Third Grade Teacher, School Dress, School Dresses, 100 Days Of School, 100th Day, 100 Days, Budgeting

The first week of school generally consists of getting to know one another, in addition to discussion and practice of classroom procedures and routines. We also got our creative juices flowing by creating summer reflection writing pieces, squiggle stories, and "All About Me" mini-posters. Students are getting to know one another and me, and we are learning to work together to build a successful and positive classroom environment. On Wednesday, I wrote out six questions, all having to do with…

Hi friends! I'm so excited to share a project that turned out so well in my classroom! I really wanted the students to have more ownership in our classroom this year and to use resources that we put up on the walls. After discussing this with my ECE we decided to co-create the alphabet and number line with the kids. First we co-constructed the alphabet. I googled co-constructed alphabet and found this image to use as the basis of our body alphabet. Photo by TSJ Photography And here is how it…

Hi hi! I'm popping in to link up with Kacey from Doodle Bugs Teaching and share 5 random things from this week! We had our Remembrance Day assembly this past Wednesday. Our Grade 8 teacher always organizes a fantastic assembly paying tribute to our veterans. All classes made a wreath to present at the assembly. Here is ours! The kids used black and red tissue paper to decorate the poppies that I had cut out. Then we hot glued it on to a styrofoam wreath that my ECE got from Michaels. She…
