The global awards scheme has been running for over 40 years, and this year sees 200 shortlisted entries, many of which tackle political and social issues such as Brexit and gender inequality.

British artist John Holcroft draws satiric digital illustrations that depict our commonly shared human flaws and social issues as they relate to technology and social behavior.

This dark drawing was inspired by depression and the effect it has on people, its a subject that's very close to my heart and i feel very passionate about it. So I created this image almost to try and explain depression to someone who's never experienced it or can not understand the effects it has on people.

Here is a selection some of my recent editorial Illustration work commissioned by magazines, newspapers and design companies. The conceptual nature of my editorial artworks are my main focus when creating commissioned pieces.

John Holcroft is a well-known British illustrator who has worked for BBC, Reader's Digest, The Guardian and the Financial Times, among others. However, what makes him famous are not his employers, but the brilliant satire reflected in his illustrations and the retro style he uses to create them.
