Bol, Ferdinand (1616-1680) - Governors of the Wine Merchant's Guild (Alte Pinakothek, Munich)

Ferdinand Bol was a Dutch artist, etcher, and draftsman. His surviving work is rare, and displays Rembrandt's influence. Like his master, Bol favored historical subjects, portraits and single figures in exotic finery. Bol was first an apprentice of Jacob Cuyp and Abraham Bloemaert. After 1630 he studied with Rembrandt, living in his house. In 1641 Bol started his own studio.
