It's easy to crochet a puff stitch flower with this tutorial! | By Naztazia | Hi there, I'm Donna Wolfe from Naztazia.com. Today, I'll show you how to crochet an easy puff flower. These flowers can be made separately or you can join them together as you go. To do this, I'm using less than 30 yards of worsted weight yarn and a size H crochet hook. To begin, start with the slipknot and then chain three. We'll slip stitch to the first chain to form a ring and then next we'll make a chain one. In this ring, we're going to make 12 single crochet stitches. Now if you find the chain three is too small of a rin, feel free to make a chain four or five instead. You'll want to move the stitches down as you work since we're trying to put a good number of stitches in such a small circular area. Once you have completed your 12 single crochet stitches in the ring make a slip stitch to the top of the first stitch to form a circle. Then fasten off and weave in the ends for this yellow yarn. Next take some pink yarn and place a slip knot on your hook. Then slip stitch to the top of any one of the 12 single crochet stitches. Now we're going to do a three puff stitch in the same space that we just recently made our slip stitch into. To do this we're going to wrap the yarn around our hook once. Then we'll draw up the loop nice and tall. Preferably to the same height as the chain three. Then we'll repeat the process a second time. We'll do the same process for the third loop. Now we're going to do another three puff stitch but this time in the next stitch, begin with the first drawing up of a loop and try to get it as tall as the other ones from the previous stitch. Then, we'll do our second one and our third one. As you can see, there are a lot of loops on our hook. We're going to very carefully do a yarn over then pull through all of the loops on our hook and then try to do a chain one quickly so everything stays in place. Now, we're going to do a chain three to match what we did on the first side of this petal then make a slip stitch into the very stitch that we just finished our last three puff stitch in. And you can see what the first finished petal looks like thus far. To make the remaining petals, we're pretty much going to do the same thing. Start with the slip stitch into the next stitch and then we'll begin the process with the chain three then the three puff stitch in the first stitch followed by the three puff stitch in the next stitch and then we do a yarn over and pull through all of the loops on our hook followed by a chain one to close the stitch followed by a chain 3 and a slip stitch to complete the petal. You can see what the first two petals look like thus far. You'll continue making petals around the center section for a total of six petals. And each petal takes up two of the single crochet stitches made with the yellow yarn. Now, if you want to connect flowers together as you crochet, it's pretty simple to do. On this blue flower, I completed four petals and now I'm working on my fifth petal, pull through and chain one. I take my crochet hook and find the top of the puff stitch from the pink flower and insert it into from the back of the petal to the front. I pull the blue flower's crochet loop through. Now I'm ready to continue on with finishing up the blue flower. I'll do a chain three and this might take some adjustments to get it right. Finally I'll do a slip stitch into the same space as the last three puff stitch just as I would normally do with the stand alone flower. I still need to make one more petal on my blue flower. So I'll do the same process as the fifth petal then I'll remove my crochet hook from the blue flower and get ready to connect my sixth petal to the next available pink petal. I'll insert my hook into the center of the pink petal and draw through the blue flower's loop and proceed to make a chain three for the other side of the blue petal. Then slip stitch to complete this final blue flower petal. Going forward you can connect the petals at different points depending upon the shape you want to build with the flowers. That's how I crochet an easy puff flower.
