Merging Spontaneity with Planning in a Watercolor Landscape
Steve will show you how to aim for a fresh, spontaneous feel in all your work if you have a planned subject in mind already. We’ll take the concepts learned in the first 3 lessons and apply them to a subject that may be more realistic or specific. The final result will be a piece that merges the spontaneous characteristics of watercolor with controlled rendering.
Spontaneous Landscape Painting using the Wet-on-Dry Method
Steve will demonstrate how to create a spontaneous landscape painting from start to finish using method two: wet-on-dry approach with a limited color palette of green and brown earth tones.
Spontaneous Landscape Painting using the Wet-on-Wet Method
Laying the foundation and creating a spontaneous landscape from start to finish using method one; wet-on-wet approach with an earth and violet color palette.
Intro to Spontaneous Landscape Painting
Why spontaneous landscape painting? Materials and methods used and a rationale for making it part of your regular art practice. Practicing the background layer with 2 different methods: wet-on-wet approach vs. wet-on-dry approach.
5 Ways to Add Interest to Your Art
No more feeling like your artwork is boring! Students will finish the lesson feeling energized to implement 1 or more of the 5 ways Kelly shares about adding visual interest to art.
Drawing with Imagination
Starting with reality as a jumping off point Kelly will lead viewers in this tutorial through her drawing a seated figure, dreaming up more and more elements, onto completion. Join in on the free workshop!
Drawing a Statue Tutorial
With toned paper, graphite and white pencils, this lesson will go over the benefits of drawing statues, choosing your subject, and how to simply (and enjoyably) draw!
Drawing Your Hand Tutorial
In this first workshop, you will learn to use the classical "trois crayons" technique to draw skin tone. Using your most handy model, Kelly will demonstrate how to draw your own hand with red, black, and white.
Watercolor Doodling
Follow along with Shayda Campbell to loosen up and explore watercolor doodle illustrations to practice and let your inner child play! Working in a single color we’ll use our paintbrush almost like a marker and doodle everyday items that we see in our home. These doodles will give us clues about who we are as an artist. We’ll take note of the choices that we make and pick out a few of our favorite doodles to paint in color.
Watercolor Florals
In this video Shayda Campbell will help you practice developing your brushwork by working on one of her favorite subjects, watercolor florals. We’ll practice various flowers and leaves together with the larger goal of working our florals into a finished composition. In this video lesson we move from floral practice through to a finished piece, all while checking in to note and understand how the decisions we make throughout the process contribute to our artistic style.
Filling a Watercolor Sketchbook
Join artist Shayda Campbell as we grab a sketchbook and fill some of those pages! In this video we’ll get back to basics and experiment with some different watercolor techniques. Things like wet into wet, wet on dry, blooms etc, will all be utilized and explored as we make patterns, fill pages, get colorful and try out ALL our brushes!
Whimsical Watercolor Self Portrait
Join artist Shayda Campbell as she demonstrates how to paint a whimsical watercolor self-portrait! When it comes to painting and illustrating people, there are so many decisions to make! How do you draw eyes? Are they detailed and expressive with perfectly placed pupils, or tiny black dots just sitting alongside the nose?
