Move over full eyelash extensions, there's a new favourite in town — half lashes. It's no longer a bad thing if you over-trimmed your false eyelashes, it's actually on trend now, talk about silver linings.

The half lash trend has skyrocketed online and it's no surprise that your favourite beauty gurus are obsessed with the new look. TikToker Amelia Oliver uses a half lash to create a sexy, foxy cat eye look, while Makeup by Miss Evelyn creates wispy doll eyelashes using a half lash, just a couple of examples of how versatile and creative you can be for a fraction of your usual lash application time.

Love Island MUA Hannah Humphries (love Georgia Harrison and Lucinda Stafford's lashes? Hannah's your girl) is a huge fan of the trend too, opting for a half lash when achieving a natural makeup look. She tells PS UK: "I love a half lash, you can customise them to be as natural or as glam as you want and you don't have to worry about any lifting."

"Makeup and lashes have no rules, as long as your eyes aren't looking droopy and your lashes aren't heavy. If you come across this issue, I'd recommend curling your lashes for downturned or straight lashes," she adds.

How to Apply Half Lashes

Humphries makes applying half lashes seem like a breeze, but practice makes perfect. Add a few layers of glue to your half lash band. You want to wait about 20 seconds until it gets tacky. I always use clear glue. Then apply with tweezers but, to be honest, it depends on the nail type!"

"Look down into a mirror and get the lashes as close to the lash line as possible. Split your lash and apply it in smaller stages if you need to. You can then go in with mascara to blend the false lash with your natural lashes, or for a full, thick look. Simply start at the root and wiggle through," she explains.

Aftercare for your half lashes is just as important. Don't forget to clean them with a lash shampoo if you use mascara on your falsies, a good lash bath can also help get rid of glue or residue for rewearing, too.

Now that you're armed with expert-approved application tips, here are some half lashes you can add to your next beauty haul.
