These Expert-Approved Hinge-Prompts Are Guaranteed To Get You More Dates

If you're new to dating apps or consider yourself a romantic veteran, there's no shame in enjoying the thrill of getting to know someone new. There's no doubt that your experience depends on the people you'll come across, but it's also about the app you use and how easy these make those first, usually awkward conversations. Because let's face it, there's nothing worse than having to strike up a conversation out of thin air.

Unlike most dating apps out there, Hinge mixes things up by letting you respond to fun pre-made prompts, which totally takes the stress off trying to craft a witty bio from scratch. Just pick three prompts (and even a voice one if you're feeling brave) and give it your best shot.

But since everyone gets the same set of prompts, it can be tough to really stand out. Luckily, we've enlisted the help of relationship expert Hope Flynn for her pick of the best Hinge prompts and answers that are guaranteed to secure a string of dates.

She tells PS UK: "When creating hinge prompts it's important to really let your personality shine through. Choosing prompts that are relatable and can spark conversations are a great way to increase your success on the app. Prompts can create opportunities for shared experiences and actually help filter those who are more suited to your personality, hobbies and interests."

So, if you're stuck on what to say, check out these relationship expert-approved prompts that'll make your profile pop and get you noticed.

Best Hinge-Prompts

"Two truths and a lie…"

"This is my favourite Hinge prompt," Flynn says. "It's a fun guessing game for someone to easily get involved in and it also gives some insight to things you have done and achieved or are true about you."

She says a good answer for this Hinge prompt could be: "I can speak Spanish and German, I queued for 14 hours to see Taylor Swift and I love coriander. Can you guess which one's a lie?"

"A shower thought I recently had…"

Opting for an open-ended, thought-provoking prompt could be more successful than the others you could go for. Flynn tells us: "Anything thought-provoking invites people to share their own thoughts related or non-related to your topic. You can be funny or show off your intelligent side and generally these types of prompts show off your curiosity towards the world."

Here's an example to this open-ended prompt: "If conjoined twins commit a crime, do they both go to jail or just one?"

"I'm overly competitive about…"

"This is a great one because not only do you get to show off your interests and playful side you can also use it as a chance to suggest a unique future date idea or activity such as playing board games or going bowling," Flynn explains.

She tells us that could answer this prompt by saying something like: "I'm overly competitive about escape rooms, the quickest I've completed one has been in 28 minutes. Think you can solve one faster than me?"

"My typical Sunday…"

Flynn tells us that this prompts the perfect opportunity for you to really show what kind of person you are, simply by painting a picture of your perfect day.

She says: "Are you a stay at home and binge Netflix cosy type of person or are you active and up and out going for a long walk and trying out a new juice bar type of person? This Hinge prompt really allows you to showcase different parts of your personality and your interests."

If the shoe fits, you could answer this prompt like this:

  • "My ideal Sunday involves sleeping in, cooking pancakes, binge watching films and ending the day with a bubble bath."
  • "My ideal Sunday is all about taking my dog for a long walk then exploring the farmers' market then going home to try out a new recipe for dinner."
