Recovery is about relationships. Success in recovery is connected to our ability to effectively engage with others. Often, relationships feel the impact of stagnant and familiar dynamics that leave us feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. Mood disorders, personality disorders, addiction and shame are influenced by our interactions with others. In recovery we examine our interpersonal struggles and consider what gets in our way of living authentically and making healthy connections. An effective therapeutic process increases self-awareness, teaches us how to be our best in relationships and inspires us to live more whole-heartedly.
I completed my clinical training at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry in Topeka, Kansas. I spent ten years working (& supervising) on the Professionals In Crisis unit at the Menninger Clinic, treating individuals with mood disorders, addiction, personality disorders & relationship problems. I opened Houston P.I.E.R. in 2010.
I am a Certified Daring Way(tm) Facilitator-Consultant (CDWF-C). The Daring Way(tm) is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The method was designed for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders.
