Mega-groups like Seventeen, consisting of 13 members, have truly made their mark in the K-pop industry. Their self-producing methodology undeniably sets them apart. NCT takes 'big' to a whole new level, with an "unlimited" member strategy, thus far accumulating a staggering 26 members split into various sub-units, revolutionizing the concept of K-pop groups. Girl group IZ*ONE, despite having 12 members, consistently exhibited a cohesive sound, as well as stunningly synchronized performances. EXO, another boy band that debuted with more than 10 members, has consistently proven their exceptional vocal and dancing abilities and left fans enthralled with their charismatic stage presence.

    Most recently, EXO became a nine-member group, with many of its members pursuing acting and solo careers.

    Although they disbanded following their contract expirations in 2021, fans still fondly remember the girl group and their impact on the industry.

    Debut Year: 2018 (Hiatus since 2022)

    Unlike other groups, Loona introduced their 12 members over an 18-month period by promoting solo singles and featuring their three sub-units (Loona 1/3, Loona Odd Eye Circle, and Loona yyxy). Known for their difficult yet graceful choreography, the 12-member girl group has been gaining popularity ever since their debut.

    Unfortunately, the group has had issues with their original entertainment company, citing unfair work conditions and contract outlines. To show solidarity with the members, fans have began boycotting media released by Blockberry until all members of Loona successfully move companies.

    After being formed on the survival show YG Treasure Box, YG Entertainment debuted this 12-member boy group in August 2020. Few months before their debut, Treasure became the fastest K-pop group to chart on Billboard's Social 50 at number 40, later peaking at number 12. In 2022 members Mashiho and Yedam departed from the group due to various reasons.

    Featuring a 10-member lineup, the 2019 rookie girl group was off to a good start with singles "Q&A" and "Really Really." Unfortunately, the group lost members Mirae, Kokoro, and Linlin later that year. In February 2020, the group released their comeback single "Hands Up."

    Created on the show Pentagon Maker in 2016, the group debuted later that year with their song "Gorilla." Originally a 10-member group, E'Dawn was kicked out by Cube Entertainment after a relationship announcement in 2018. Although the now nine-member group hasn't promoted as a full group since 2022, the members have stayed busy with individual projects.

    The most recent Produce 101 group (and most likely, the last), X1's debut single "Flash" best describes their career. Only a few months after their debut, it was revealed that the Produce 101 producers manipulated the votes and the rankings for all four seasons. Due to the controversy, the members of X1 decided to disband and go their separate ways.

    After gaining exposure on Produce 101 Season 1, the Pledis trainees formed the girl group Pristin along with I.O.I's Nayoung and Kyulkyung. Featuring 10 members, the group had a short-lived success due to catchy singles "Wee Woo" and "We Like." Sadly, the group disbanded in 2019 despite their trending popularity.

Although they began with ten members, a total of three have departed from the group, leaving them as a seven-member lineup. The members have since left TOP Media and begun exploring solo careers.

    Coed School is one of the first and most popular co-ed groups in all of K-pop. Their short tenure inspired the creation of many other co-ed groups. The group released one EP, Something That Is Cheerful and Fresh, and two singles in the form of "Too Late" and "Bbiribbom Bberibbom." In the middle of 2013, the group was split into two units: F-Ve Dolls, the all-girl unit, and Speed, the all-boy unit.

    ToppDogg debuted with 13 members until their company (Stardom Entertainment) was acquired by Hunus Entertainment in 2015. Since then, the lineup eventually shrank down to five members who rebranded as XENO-T in 2018, before disbanding a few years later. During their time as a 13-member group, ToppDogg was known for their songs "Open the Door" and "Arario."

    Known for their singles "Spectrum" and "Wolf Baby," the 10-member boy band became eight at the end of 2019, following a contract dispute between TS Entertainment and members Wooyeop and Taeseon. After controversies and scandals sadly plagued the group and members, they ultimately disbanded in 2022.
