The implausible escape of a brilliant murderess brings U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his new partner (Mark Ruffalo) to Ashecliffe Hospital, a fortress-like insane asylum located on a remote, windswept island. The woman appears to have vanished from a locked room, and there are hints of terrible deeds committed within the hospital walls. As the investigation deepens, Teddy realizes he will have to confront his own dark fears if he hopes to make it off the island alive.

As a mystery thriller, it is a direct one-way ticket to madness, and it's impossible not to get hooked or think about it once it's over. Without a doubt, this is one of Scorsese's best films with DiCaprio. [Full review in Spanish]

Un film à regarder rien que pour sa mise en scène parfaite avec des décors qui ont un je-ne-sais-quoi de fantastique. Le scénario est peut-être un peu trop surcoté car certes le twist marche bien mais n'est pas le "mindfucker" dont tout le monde parle.

A beautiful thrilling mystery. It’s one of those movies that, on rewatch, you can tell that the ending is screaming in your face. All the performances are the toppest of notch’s (yes that is definitely a word) Leo simply kills it. His range is unlimited and there’s really nothing I can say about him that isn’t well known already. Mark Ruffalo and the rest of the cast’s performances are all just so delusional filled and entertaining. The story leaves you questioning your own reality and perception of things. The screenplay is a ride, the music is perfectly eerie, and the set designs and costumes paint that perfect picture of a mid 1900’s insane asylum. This movie is cinema.
