Philippa Hawker The Age (Australia) From its opening credits, [it] proclaims its hand-drawn, delicate, watercolour aesthetic. But it's not all sweetness and light: there's a dark strand of humour and some sly visual gags in this clever tale of opposites. Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 19, 2014 Full Review Eddie Cockrell The Australian Two styles combine to create a world at once impressionistic and lived in, infused with the kind of warm glow which emanates from a cosy fireplace. Rated: 4/5 Jun 19, 2014 Full Review Joe Williams St. Louis Post-Dispatch Ernest learns to share, Celestine learns to a paint - and the audience learns that in a Disney-dominated marketplace, kids are still free to choose their own mini mouse. Rated: 3/4 Apr 10, 2014 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com ...a lovely piece of hand-drawn work from directors Stéphane Aubier , Vincent Patar and Benjamin Renner, and this subtitled version is a pleasant diversion for kids of all ages... Rated: 4/5 Feb 1, 2024 Full Review Mat Brunet AniMat's Review (YouTube) Ernest & Celestine is a fun-filled and heartfelt animated feature that presents one of the best examples of how to turn children’s literature into a film adaptation. Rated: 9/10 May 12, 2023 Full Review Richard Propes TheIndependentCritic.com A beautifully presented and emotionally resonant message about friendship and how friendship doesn't have to look exactly like you. Mix R Wonderful animation, great mechanics between two characters, simple, but heartwarming plot - it's a piece of art that you should definitely watch if you want to feel some inner warm. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review Aender S Such a cute animation film of a mouse befriending a bear, the two outlaws in their respective worlds. There's even an official version in Luxembourgish, that's a plus in my book. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Gareth v A quaint and sweet story that seems to marry with the pastel watercolour style of animation. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/19/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a beautiful story about tolerance! The universe is awesome and very well adapted from the original book! If you love traditional 2d animation, this film is for you! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review mike v Ernest & Celestine is a 2012 internationally co-produced animated comedy-drama film directed by Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar and Benjamin Renner 🐭 Meh, it passed the time. Just. 😐 👍🏼👎🏼 BONNIE AND CLYDE, SID AND NANCY… Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Beautiful animated with charming Characters, especially the story. Although it is a film for kids, The story is not like the usual, what I could say is we're living in a society and no wonder this film won an award.
