Audience Member Definitively the worst film EVER made. I will never get that hour and 48 minutes back. All horrible films can be judged by this standard. Two British military pilots crash off the coast of a tiny, impoverished Greek island, and their plane's top-secret cargo falls into the naive hands of the local townspeople (they only know they have an impenetrable metal box with undetermined contents). The government sends a recovery party disguised as gaily dressed (emphasis on "gaily") location scouts for a hotel chain, but widespread rumors of a coming resort quickly transform the island into a booming tourist spot. This is great news for the local economy, but bad news for the undercover soldiers trying to quietly find a missing weapon without disclosing their mission. All of this sounds like great fun, but a confused script and an oppressive homoerotic tone sour the proceedings. Director Mihalis Kakogiannis also designed the costumes, and unfortunately seems much more interested in pushing his flamboyant cabana-boy fashions than directing. Oh, and did I mention that the pilots (one is the otherwise respected Tom Courtenay) spend 80% of the movie wandering around in nothing but dirty underpants? Ugh. A bewildering, unsatisfying conclusion is the final straw. In the end, the best reason to see this obscure flop may be a young, mega-tanned Candice Bergen, who drops by well into the film, stays about a half hour and then sails away with a shrug. Paycheck: received and cashed. You've never seen her this sexy -- if you're a fan, this movie is a must.
