Matthew M A great depiction of a corporate dystopia! As someone that has felt the pointlessness of a corporate job this rings all too true. The pursuit of following advertisements and TV personalities to find a sense of wholeness when all that's left is a void that makes you feel like exploding. To live a loveless life and to fear your dreams. It's a powerful reflection of how your job can own you and consume you. Definitely glad that I no longer work for Jeffers Corp! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/11/24 Full Review Aimee C A rambling pointless mess that tries entirely too hard to be deep & meaningful. The "message" is painfully obvious but they just keep beating the viewer with it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/26/23 Full Review Sodazart R An absolutely astonishing piece of work. A unique concept executed in a flawless fashion. The movie is a deep dive into a humans desire to find a purpose, and in that purpose true happiness. If you are not into the art house style, or an authentic creative film with a deep sense of purpose then avoid this film. However if you are looking for something truly meaningful, and compelling with astounding depth then this is definitely the film for you. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/25/23 Full Review Audience Member NOPE! It is 2021 and today I got a "Must Watch" recommendation on my google feed from Josh Bell from Inverse for Visioneers. The article headline read "YOU NEED TO WATCH THE BEST DYSTOPIAN MOVIE OF 2008 FOR FREE ONLINE ASAP." I love Dystopian/SciFi movies and shows so I thought this is going to be one of those hidden gems that I missed. NOPE! I watched 45 mins of this dry, humorless depiction of future corporate controlled life waiting for something to spark. I waited for some sign of hope to turn things around. I hope George Washington (something, something) would become a hero or at least find some deeper meaning. NOPE! After 45 mins, I couldn't take it anymore. To be fair to Josh Bell, this is probably the best dystopian movie of 2008. But how many other dystopian movies came out that year? When I think of Dystopian movies, I think of the Matrix as the best example. Visioneers makes me think of what would have happened to Neo if he had taken the Blue Pill instead. In the end, this movie is the best example of what someone would think of classically dystopian but to charactetize it as being the best movie of any kind wouldn't seem accurate. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member One of those rare movies that makes you feel better about life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm sure the filmaker(s) & writer(s) thought this film was a real gem when they were making it. They were wrong. I gave this movie a chance after reading some pretty good reviews, but this fell well short of the "worth watching" mark, sadly. Quirky for the sake of being quirky, poorly drawn plot (what plot?) & not funny apart from the "Mack Luster" commercial. "An interesting, dystopian take on corporatism" must be a nice way of saying that this never would've seen the light of day without Galifianakis' face on the poster.
