Along with an extra day off, Presidents’ Day brings with it plenty of sales on running gear. Running shoes are no exception, with some of the most recognizable brands from Hoka to Asics offering their first major discounts of the year during the long weekend.
These discounts aren’t limited to lower tier or older models, either. Many of the best are on shoes that have performed well with the Runner’s World wear-tester crew. In fact, we’ve tested or reported on every shoe here.
You can load up on all your shoes for the rest of the year, whether you’re ramping up your training for the next marathon or just like to trail run on the weekends. Many top brands are offering discounts near or above 50 percent, with some slashing prices by more than 60 percent. So, regardless if you’re buying a gift for a friend or spending a little cash on yourself, here are the best Presidents’ Day running shoe sales we found for the weekend.

Hoka Bondi 8 Road Running Shoe
With thick cushioning and a plush midsole, the Bondi 8 continues to be a popular and well-regarded shoe by Hoka. This model comes with a memory-foam collar that molds to the shape of your ankle for a more personalized fit. The relatively wide base and a reshaped heel work to absorb and disperse shock better than previous iterations of the shoe, making each stride less taxing on your feet and legs.

Well known for its zero-drop designs and thick, supportive soles, Altra has released a number of running shoes we at Runner’s World love. This includes the Paradigm 6, which features both of those hallmarks.
While the thick slab of midsole cushioning may dissuade your speed-focused friends, fear not. The stability of the internal guide rail and the pleasantly surprising amount of energy return make this a great shoe for more than just recovery runs.
Another cushioned and comfortable choice, the Gel-Kayano 29 from Asics is plush. But despite the soft midsole, don’t expect to sink into the ground. This shoe is plenty light and has an external heel counter for stability. You won’t break any PRs, but the Gel-Kayano 29 is comfortable, responsive, and easy on your feet—and your wallet during this sale.
Saucony Triumph 20 Road Running Shoe
Looking for a new shoe for your daily runs? The Triumph 20 is it. Saucony mixed the support of a cushioned heel and thick midsole with the momentum of the rocker design to be the best of both worlds. And, as with the Asics Gel-Kayano 29, the shoe is incredibly lightweight despite the ample midsole, which will save you some fatigue even as the miles pile up.
With interior glass fiber rods, the Adizero Boston 12 is extremely responsive and bounces back well with your stride. These rods have more flex than the traditional carbon-fiber plate, which leads to a less stiffness. And the outsole gained praise from our testers, who found it grippy on both wet and dry surfaces.

New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080 V12 Road Running Shoe
A versatile option from New Balance, the Fresh Foam X 1080 V12 is a blend of comfort, flexibility, and simplicity. The foam midsole, while heavy, provides tremendous shock absorption. At the same time, the knit upper offers breathability and flexes with the movement of your foot.
Brooks Glycerin 20 Neutral Running Shoe
One of the first ever Brooks shoes, the Glycerin is in its 20th iteration. This generation stays true to the line’s focuses: cushioning and versatility. With a thick midsole made of Brooks’s DNA Loft v3 foam and a wide bottom sole for stability, the shoe will keep your feet comfortable without slowing your momentum. The straightforward, neutral design also lends itself to being a great everyday trainer that you can throw on for quick jogs and long distance weekend runs alike.
Ever since Adidas launched its Boost, the foam has been remarkably popular due to the comfortable squish and, as the name suggests, the boost of energy return as you follow through your stride. This pair of Ultraboost running shoes continues to focus on that, at a lighter overall weight. With a less dense foam that previous iterations of the shoe, you can pick up your feet a little faster.
Still a bit too dense to be setting any speed records, the shoe has comfort and bounce that make it a great choice for everyday training.
The second iteration at Lululemon’s break into running shoes, the Blissfeel 2 sold us on the brand’s aspirations. With enough responsiveness to keep you moving on a long-distance run, this shoe offers comfort and stability above all else.
Designed for women’s feet specifically, it’s heavy and beefy, a great choice for recovery days. “Running in the 2 felt like running in Adidas’s Ultraboost,” test editor Amanda Furrer writes in her review. “It’s thickset, but there’s plenty of pop to the 2’s ride. The toe room and cushioning felt like a reprieve after testing narrower, less-supportive trainers.”
Leave the pavement behind and set out for the hills in a pair of the Lone Peak 7 from Altra. With the pronounced, tacky lugs on its outsole, you get comfortable grip on gravel, dirt, and even wet rock. This is combined with Altra signature zero-drop design to give your feet a sturdy base.
Altra added a waterproof toe bumper for protection against rocks and roots. Combine that with the classic wide toe box, and you have a shoe built for both comfort and versatility.
