If you were one of the 51,933 people who started the New York City Marathon on November 5, chances are very high that you also finished it.

According to New York Road Runners, 51,402 runners finished the marathon, a 98.9 percent completion rate.

The number of finishers was the third-highest in the race’s history, according to NYRR, and also the world’s largest in 2023.

Although finisher numbers for the world’s largest races have been skewed since the pandemic, 2023 represented a return to normalcy. The Paris Marathon typically ranks just behind New York—and it did so again in 2023, with 50,787 finishers. Chicago is usually third. This year, 48,574 runners made it through the 26.2 miles in the Windy City.

Diving into New York’s statistics: 28,501 were men, 22,807 were women, and were 94 non-binary finishers. They hailed from all 50 states and 148 countries.

On the men’s side, Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia was the winner, in a course record time of 2:04:58. Hellen Obiri of Kenya won the women’s division in 2:27:23.

NYRR also provided some stats about the runners who were the most tracked on their app. Celebrities ruled the day and took the top five spots.

YouTube stars Cody Ko (3:53:29) and Casey Neistat (3:01:27) ranked in the top five, as did Today host Sheinelle Jones (4:41:19), French model Marine Lorphelin (4:49:26), and former Bachelor star Matt James (3:04:50), who ran with 2017 champion Shalane Flanagan.
