Caller steals photos and tries to extort money

Threatening text message contacting a family member mentioning my name

xThis was a scam number, pretty slick. They sent me a check for $2,800, and asked me to deposit it in my checking account, then to keep $700 and forward the rest to a number they would provide. Of course I knew it was bogus. Thought about opening a new account with myself as the only signer, but if the bank had given me the $700, I would have been responsible. After the deposit, I was to send a copy of the deposit slip to a number to be provided. They alleged that some one would show up to put some signage on my car. What a scam! Rather slick, but I did not fall for it. I turned it over to the FTC and the FBI Fraud division, and told them so. Never heard back from them again.

Hacker said they were from microsoft but weren't. said my computer is not protected and he wanted to get on it to do something to protect it...then when asked his company & he said microsoft, asked to speak to his manager and he started yelling and calling me names. Has to have been a hacker if they wanted on my computer...
