We weren't expecting to jump on the Angels' bandwagon this season, but they're about to conclude their best homestand in decades and win all seven if they can complete the four-game sweep against the stumbling Tigers. The pitching matchup says they might, with Tyler Anderson being very reliable almost all season, as his 2.63 ERA suggests. Meanwhile, Detroit has stalled, and Casey Mize is another of their rotation pieces looking anywhere for daylight, as the Tigers have lost seven of his last 10 starts. Mize has posted a 5.36 ERA since the start of May.

We have not often said "go with the White Sox on the run line" this season but are making an exception against what might be an even more-woeful Rockies team. It was easy to come to that conclusion after Chicago bossed the first two games of this weekend set by a combined 16-6, part of its three-game winning streak, and with ace Garrett Crochet (1.66 ERA since the start of May) on the mound as it goes for the sweep. I'm reluctant to back Colorado with Kyle Freeland making only his second start since being activated and posting a 9.55 ERA this season.

Eight runs seems a pretty low "total" these days for the Yankees, especially after another explosion yesterday in Toronto. That puts the Over at 9-1 in the Yanks' last 10 games, and it's usually way "over" as their contests have reached at least 11 runs in 10 of the last 13. Moreover, Gerrit Cole's first two starts since being activated have been bumpy, to say the least (9.00 ERA, 1.88 WHIP). Toronto's "totals" have reached eight runs or more in eight of Kevin Gausman's last 10 starts.

Looking for a barometer on the Mariners? There might be nothing better than Saturday's starting pitcher Bryce Miller, whose personal numbers reflect their pattern this season. Away from home, not so good...Seattle is 19-25 on the road, and Miller with a 6.28 ERA away. But when the Mariners fly back to Sea-Tac, they transform into monsters at T-Mobile Park, where they've now won 14 of 15 after last night's 3-2 win in 10 innings, and where Miller has posted a 1.82 ERA this term. This price thus greatly intrigues, as Pablo Lopez had been struggling badly on the Minnesota side (and how...9.69 ERA in first three starts this month) before Sunday's win at Oakland.

While kicking ourselves a bit for not reacting sooner to this current five-game Halos uprising, maybe it's not too late. At least for this weekend, as the Angels are taking care of the slumping Tigers and their shallow offense that seems flummoxed by the suddenly-improved Halo pitching; tonight it's Griffin Canning for the Angels after he ignited this current uptick with seven strong innings (one run, five hits) on Monday vs. the A's. Meanwhile, Detroit's Reese Olson has been pitching in bad luck all season, as the one constant has been the Tigers losing when he takes the mound (2-12 his last 14 starts), with his June ERA at 6.33 thanks to some poor efforts early in the month.

It looks like Sonny Gray is back in the same sort of nice groove he was early in the season, allowing just four runs and 10 hits across his last three starts covering 21 2/3 IP (1.66 ERA). Most importantly for the Cards, they won all three of those starts, and the Redbirds hit Saturday after having recovered nicely from a heavy loss to the Reds on Thursday thanks to last night's 1-0 win behind Andre Pallante. Meanwhile, Carson Spiers has started to struggle a bit in recent starts for Cincy, as his 5.25 ERA across his last two starts would suggest. The Reds' indifferent form now extends almost three weeks (6-11 the past seventeen games).

The Twins bring some momentum into Seattle after pounding Arizona the past two days and winning a series against a team other than the Rockies or A's for the first time in nearly four weeks. Drill deeper, however, and note that Minnesota took advantage of a couple of the more inconsistent pieces in the D-Backs rotation, a luxury they don't have tonight vs. the Mariners as Logan Gilbert hasn't allowed a run in his last two starts while going eight full innings in each. Seattle is also back at T-Mobile Park where it has won 13 of tis last 14, and note Bailey Ober's subpar 5.07 ERA away for Minnesota.

Eastern trips for the Padres often turn into dangerous adventures, and the storm signals are out tonight at Fenway Park with Randy Vasquez on the mound for Mike Shildt. The difference between Vasquez at Petco Park (3.55 ERA) and away from Petco Park (6.85 ERA) have been stark, potentially superseding San Diego's momentum after sweeping the Nats at home this week. The BoSox have been making some noise lately by winning eight of 10, and they've also won the last four starts made by Nick Pivetta.

Not sure a game could have ended much worse for the Phillies than last night, blowing their first three-run lead of the season then seeing Kyle Schwarber (groin) and Bryce Harper (hamstring) both go down in the ninth inning. Plus it was the lowly Marlins making the rally last night. Not to sound too snarky, but let's see Miami do that again, especially as Philly isn't on a 106-56 pace for nothing, Cristopher Sanchez is also now 4-1 with a 1.59 ERA in eight starts this term at CBP.

We hope we aren't a bit late with the Cardinals, who have been on a nice 10-4 uptick the past two weeks to move right in the middle of the NL wild card race while reminding the Brewers to start looking over their shoulders in the Central. We suggest there's some more run left in this streak, thanks in part to improved pitching from the likes of Miles Mikolas, who is well beyond his slow start early in the season and is enjoying a productive June, posting a 2.49 ERA this month while the Redbirds have won in 3 of his 4 starts. Note the Reds have cooled down considerably, losing 8 of 11 into Busch this weekend. Play Cards on Run Line

We expected to lay a price on the Run Line with the Phillies, though this isn't as bad as we were expecting. After all, we haven't even reached July or the halfway point of the season and the Phils are flying 25 games above the Marlins in the NL East standings into today. Miami's season-long offensive issues haven't abated, and several decent efforts on the mound by Thursday starter Trevor Rogers haven't been rewarded, as the Marlins have lost in 13 of his 15 starts. Given that Zack Wheeler has a 1.66 ERA at CBP this season for the Phils, we were thinking this Run Line price might be a lot more prohibitive. Play Phillies on Run Line

We mention the "b" word (bully) in conjunction with the Twins because almost the entirety of their recent uptick came at the expense of the lowly Rockies and A's. They haven't won a series vs. anyone else in almost a month and began this midweek set in Phoenix with a loss last night. Home cooking has worked lately for D-backs starter Ryne Nelson, who has posted a 1.98 ERA across his last two Chase Field starts, wins for Arizona against the Giants and Chisox. Note that Simeon Woods Richardson has been losing some effectiveness on the Minnesota side, with a 4.35 ERA in June after entering the month with an ERA considerably lower (2.70). The Mets' resurgence (they can get back to .500 with another win tonight in the Subway Series) can be more than partly traced to improved offense. Across the last nine games, the scoring barrage has continued with 66 runs in that span. That's the challenge tonight at Citi Field facing Yankees starter Luis Gil, whose run of good form was shattered in his last start vs. the Orioles, not even lasting two innings while allowing seven runs. The Yanks, however, did get their own offense going late in last night's game before falling short, and would expect them to do some business off of Sean Manaea, who has had a bit of a bumpy ride in June (6.75 ERA this month). Before any Tigers fans want to get carried away with last night's 4-1 win over the Phils, remember it was Tarik Skubal on the mound, and there are no other Skubals in the Motown rotation. It was also still just Detroit's 6th win across its last 18 games on Tuesday. As of late last night, AJ Hinch also hadn't even decided upon a starter for the Wednesday rubber match, which comes with an added twist against former Tiger Spencer Turnbull, who earlier pitched for five seasons at Comerica Park. Rob Thomson is giving Turnbull another shot in the rotation as he was in April, when recording a 1.l67 ERA, and when the Phils won five of his six starts. Play Phillies on Run Line

The D-backs are back home after a mostly-encouraging road trip in which the pitching impressed at times. The Chase Field venue also ought to suit Brandon Pfaadt just fine tonight after he has featured in Phoenix just once since May 15; across his last two appearances at home, Pfaadt allowed just 2 runs and 8 hits across 13 IP (1.38 ERA) in a pair of D-backs wins. Meanwhile, though Joe Ryan hasn't pitched badly this month for the Twins, Minnesota has nonetheless lost in three of his last four starts. Play D-backs on Money Line
