JOB SUMMARY:

THIS POSITION WILL NOT START UNTIL SEPTEMBER 1, 2024.

The Building Security Supervisor works to ensure the efficient day-to-day operations of the Security Department, to guarantee the safety and security of buildings, properties, employees, and guests across Smith Entertainment Group properties in Salt Lake City, Sandy, & Kearns. The Building Security Supervisor oversees a small team of full-time and part-time security staff and ultimately reports to the Building Security Manager. Shift hours: 8am-4pm. Hours may also vary depending on security needs.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise a team of building security full-time and part-time staff 
  • Possess a strong understanding of all areas of the building (e.g. Utah NHL Practice Facilities, etc.)
  • Execute policies and procedures to maintain the highest quality of public safety 
  • Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences 
  • Answer alarms and investigate disturbances 
  • Interact with guests in the screening security locations, access control, crowd control, risk management, alcohol enforcement, and event staff  
  • Must be comfortable searching bags and a person’s body respectfully and efficiently
  • Must be able to take objections and respond with a guest service approach first 
  • Enforce building safety and security rules and policies 
  • Foster strong communication within the department 
  • Ensure consistent standards of practice 
  • Train and present to staff

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Valid Driver’s License Preferred 
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized 
  • Strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to stay calm in highly stressful situations 
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative manner 
  • Manage multiple staff at a time 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally
  • This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess 
  • This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time
  • This person must be able to lift 20 lbs 
  • Ability to stand for an entire shift (75% standing and walking, 25% stair and ramp climbing) 
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, bend, twist, grasp, and reach 
  • Specific vision abilities include: close & distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception with or without reasonable accommodations
