 About the Role:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, this role would be responsible for processing payrolls accurately, on a timely basis, while continuously looking to identify efficiencies for OEG’S Retail Cannabis Division (Tokyo Smoke Brand) in Canada. The Payroll Team Lead would also assist with HRIS & Time & Attendance projects including development, reporting, and the implementation of new initiatives.

 

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Responsible for full cycle payroll
  • Process Canadian salaried and hourly payroll (bi-weekly)
  • Provide guidance to Payroll Administrators & support to Manager, Payroll & Benefits
  • Cross train as back up to Payroll Administrators
  • Process new hires, terminations, employee changes, pay rate changes, promotions, commissions, and bonuses.
  • Verify time from Time and Attendance system and import hours to payroll.
  • Perform calculations and related entries for bonuses, commissions, etc
  • Perform year-end related activities and producing T4’s
  • Assist in the management of HRIS and T&A systems
  • Ensure compliance to all employment legislation and regulatory guidelines
  • Establish appropriate control to ensure compliance with payroll processes, company policy and legislative requirements
  • Assist with month end and fiscal year end reporting
  • Building and maintaining trusted working relationships by providing excellent customer service and contributing to a positive and efficient working environment
  • Responsible for the submission of RRSP & TFSA contributions
  • Administer benefit plan changes
  • Prepares payroll and HR reports as required
  • Workers Compensation reporting
  • Additional duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience processing full cycle payroll
  • Designated Payroll PCP and CPM would be an asset.
  • Working knowledge with payroll, HRIS and time & attendance systems is preferred, experience with UltiPro, Humanity and Great Plains would be an asset
  • Capable of handling confidential, sensitive and personal information
  • Strong planning and organization skills to determine priorities with strict deadlines
  • Well organized with superior attention to detail
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office; including advanced Excel (Pivot Tables & Vlookup functions)
