The Swifties called it, and this time they were finally right. Taylor Swift has announced the release for 1989 (Taylor’s Version). The re-record of her 2014 Album of the Year winner has been highly anticipated, and Swift herself understands why.

“”The 1989 album changed my life in countless ways, and it fills me with such excitement to announce that my version of it will be out October 27th,” she wrote in the caption of her Instagram announcement. Prior to 1989, Taylor Swift toed the line between country and pop, but with that release, she solidified her position as a pop artist, bringing on hitmaker Max Martin to co-write and co-produce. If Red was an experimental turning point, 1989 was Swift at her most confident yet.

“To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I've ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can't believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

She made the announcement late Wednesday night during the final night of her Eras Tour stop at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Following the 2019 sale of Big Machine Records, including Swift’s masters, this will be the fourth re-record she will be releasing. This leaves only her self-titled debut album and the last album she recorded under BMR, Reputation. Right after the announcement, Swift performed “New Romantics,” a bonus track on 1989 — wearing a new blue tour outfit.

That wasn’t the only surprise at the Eras tour on Wednesday; none other than Karlie Kloss, Swift’s old best friend (and rumored nemesis), showed up to experience the concert, much to fans’ surprise. Several fans shared TikTok video of Kloss entering the stadium, taking her seat in the crowd (as many noted, not in VIP), and singing and dancing along to “Shake It Off.”

The two became inseparable friends in 2013, making constant effort to bring each other up in interviews. It was around 2016 that they stopped publicly spending time together.

In Swift’s 2017 music video for “Look What You Made Me Do,” fans noticed that on the t-shirt the singer wore featuring the names of her famous friends, Kloss’s name was not included. Swift also did not attend Kloss’s wedding to Jared Kushner in 2018. Endless rumors have circulated since — culminating in speculation that Swift’s evermore bonus track “It’s Time to Go” references the supermodel.

In true 1989 fashion, however, perhaps a reunion is in order.
