Dynamite value to blow rival away

Hrgovic is unbeaten in 17 professional contests, with 14 of those victories coming by stoppage, and the Croat has been tipped for big things in the heavyweight division. However, Hrga’s card is paper-thin and the one time the 31-year-old stepped up in class it almost ended in disaster.

The Zagreb puncher took on Zhilei Zhang in 2022 and Big Bang’s power had Hrgovic in a world of trouble when dropping the Croat early in that contest. The 31-year-old rallied to take the fight on a points decision, but it was a fortunate victory that could easily have gone the way of his Chinese opponent.

Dubois has questions to answer after defeats to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, but Joyce was in top form when an inexperienced Triple D entered the ring with the Putney puncher – and there is no shame in losing to the undisputed heavyweight champion.

It is worth remembering that Dubois looked to have beaten Usyk when knocking him down in round nine, only for the body shot to be deemed an illegal blow.

The Greenwich fighter should have plenty left to offer aged 26, and while there are two defeats on the Dubois card, Triple D has mixed it at a much higher level than Hrgovic.

There is not anything of note outside the Zhang contest on the Hrgovic card and we know that Big Bang’s power caught the attention of the Croat.

Perhaps Hrgovic deserves to be the narrow favourite for Saturday night’s Saudi showdown, but offers of 2/1 may underrate the chances of Dubois – and Triple D looks the play at the Kingdom Arena.

Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic tip 1: Daniel Dubois to win @ 2/1 with bet365

Big-hitting duo in for an early night

It will be interesting to see how Hrgovic approaches this fight, given that the only time he has been in the ring with a capable opponent he was rocked to the canvas.

Hrga will be well aware of the punching power of Dubois, but the Croat is not going to be dancing around the ring – and at some point Triple D will connect. There was a clear vulnerability to power in Hrgovic’s clash with Zhang, and heavy hitting is certainly a strength of Dynamite.

It is no use pretending that everything is positive for Dubois and the Greenwich man has to answer questions over conditioning and durability after defeats to Joyce and Usyk. That again will be a clear concern for the 26-year-old.

However, Hrgovic does not possess the skills and movement of Usyk, and the Croat does not have the engine and relentless pressure of Joyce. That said, Dubois is in against a good opponent and it is unlikely that whoever comes out on top at the Kingdom Arena will need the decision of the judges.

At 11/8, take the fight to end before the start of the seventh round.
