Leeds move up a gear

After drawing their opening two Championship matches against Portsmouth and West Bromwich Albion, title favourites Leeds United have now won back-to-back games to climb to fourth.

Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe scored the goals in a 2-0 win at Elland Road that keeps Leeds four points behind leaders Sunderland.

The Wearside club made it four wins out of four in the league with a 3-1 victory at Portsmouth, goals by Alan Browne and Romaine Mundle adding to an own goal by Zak Swanson for the visitors.

Under Regis Le Bris, Sunderland have conceded just one goal this season and they are 8/1 in the title betting, along with Middlesbrough, who beat Cardiff City 2-0 away to record their first league win since the opening weekend and climb to seventh in the table.

Second favourites in the Championship winner odds are Burnley, who were held to a 1-1 draw at home by arch-rivals Blackburn Rovers and have slipped to sixth. Reports later claimed that manager Scott Parker is unhappy about certain players leaving Turf Moor during the transfer window.

West Bromwich Albion are second in the table and fifth in the betting at 12/1. Carlos Corberan’s side are unbeaten in the league this season after Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Swansea City. Third-placed Watford surrendered their 100 per cent record, losing 1-0 at Sheffield United, and are 40/1 shots.
