England striker in pole position

Harry Kane is the 7/4 favourite to be the top scorer at Euro 2024 after scoring a penalty in England’s rousing 2-1 victory over the Netherlands in the semi-finals.

Kane is one of six players on the three-goal mark, of whom only he and Dani Olmo will feature in the final between England and Spain in Berlin on Sunday, with Olmo 5/2 to be top scorer.

It is important to note that this market is for the top goalscorer and not for the Golden Boot. In the event of a tie for the Golden Boot, the player with the most assists wins it and in this case it would be Olmo who has two assists.

For the top scorer betting market, dead-heat rules apply if there is more than one player with the most goals. Dead-heat rules mean that your stake is divided by the number of players level on goals.

For example, if you bet £5 on Olmo at 5/2 and he dead-heats with four other players you will be paid out as if you had placed a £1 bet at 5/2.

Of those players on two goals who will feature in the final, England’s Jude Bellingham is 25/1 and Spain’s Fabian Ruiz is 33/1. The latter also has two assists whereas Bellingham has none.

When England’s men last won a major trophy at the 1966 World Cup, Geoff Hurst scored a hat-trick in the final against West Germany. Odds of 50/1 and higher are available on any of the players on one goal to emulate that feat and become the outright top scorer in what would be memorable fashion.
