Royal Ascot accumulator tips: 48/1 treble for day 1
Facteur Cheval is 3/1 to win the 2.30pm at Royal Ascot today

Royal Ascot gets under way this afternoon with a seven-race offering from Flat racing’s most prestigious track.

The royal parade will precede the action that kicks off with the Queen Anne Stakes at 2.30 and involves three Group 1s in the first four races. The St James’s Palace Stakes at 4.20 just squeaks it as the feature, having attracted the best of the three-year-old mile division.

Ahead of the action we have selected a Royal Ascot day one acca, which comes in at around 48/1 with talkSPORT BET if successful.

Facteur in French raider

The Queen Anne has a notably open look this year and it would be understandable to consider a potential shock. But there are inaccuracies even at the top of the betting and FACTEUR CHEVAL should be backed into a clear favourite berth before punters have to start looking for ricks down the field.

Facteur Cheval has often been overrated. He went off at a big price in last year’s Sussex Stakes, despite coming in off a close third in Group 1 company. He was second that day to Paddington.

He was also 20-1 when last seen in the Dubai Turf at Meydan in March. He prevailed by a short head, finally achieving a Group 1 win after many close-run things.

The doubt that day was over the going. While it is true that Facteur Cheval has most of his form on testing ground and it could be quick at Royal Ascot, his Meydan run did a lot to dispel the idea that he needs it tough. He deserves to be seen as the likeliest winner of an open race.

Selection: Facteur Cheval – Queen Anne Stakes (2.30) @ 3/1 with talkSPORT BET

Regional to reign in Charles III

Before he won Haydock’s Sprint Cup last season, you would have said that REGIONAL was more of a five-furlong horse. He had won at York in May and broke the track record at the Merseyside venue the same month.

Even though his Group 1 win came at 6f, it remains the case that Regional ought to be at least as good over five. He has loads of pace and again showed more speed than anything else when reeled in at the Curragh on his reappearance.

A stiff five furlongs on fast ground is about as good a compromise as you are likely to get. Regional could well offer another career-best here and, if he does, he deserves to be the market leader.

Selection: Regional – King Charles III Stakes (3.45) @ 9/2 with talkSPORT BET

Notable to underline championship credentials

The theory that all-weather form translates well to Ascot since the track’s redevelopment work in the mid-2000s is one of those ideas that sounds like it should not hold.

It does work out more often than is likely to be totally coincidental – and if so, that gives the edge to NOTABLE SPEECH in a red-hot running of the St James’s Palace Stakes.

Before he turned up in the 2,000 Guineas, this Dubawi colt had never run on turf. He had made his name in the winter, winning all-weather races with rare swagger. At Newmarket, he continued that progress in beating Rosallion.

Now he comes to Ascot, where the 2,000 Guineas second (and subsequent Irish Guineas winner) has form. But Notable Speech is a lot less exposed and, thanks to his all-weather record, has about as close a proxy as you could want for a solid indicator at the Berkshire venue.

He can ram home his form advantage over his nearest rivals, which also include the well-touted Henry Longfellow and Poule d’Essai des Poulains winner Metropolitan.

Selection: Notable Speech – St James’s Palace Stakes (4.25) @ 6/5 with talkSPORT BET
