A video of Katy, 39, was uncovered by PopBase while singing in the studio on Monday night as her peers donned their finest gowns for the Met Gala in New York.
Instead, the singer sported a skintight black corset top with a plunging neckline and zipper down the front.
She paired the top with black leather pants for an edgy look from head to toe.
Katy's dark hair was styled into curls and she put her hand on her hip as she belted into a studio microphone.

Though the clip had no sound, it was apparent to fans that the American Idol alum was recording new music instead of attending the Met.
FAN CONFUSION
Fans were interested to see that the mother of one was not in New York for the biggest night in fashion after an AI-generated photo of her at the event went viral.
"I saw photos of her there?" one claimed.
"But I thought I saw her...huh?" a second agreed.

GARDEN OF FAKERY?
Many fans were left gobsmacked on Monday after AI-generated photos of both Katy and Rihanna, 36, circulated online.
During the biggest night in fashion, ingenuine photos of the stars emerged wearing dramatic looks to reflect the Met Gala's 2024 theme, The Garden of Time.
Many fans were fooled, despite the fact that the Fenty Beauty founder was last seen at the star-studded event in 2023 and neither actually were in attendance this year.
In the AI renderings, Rihanna was wearing a jaw-dropping cream-colored dress that imitated a forest setting with grass and flowers winding their way up her skirt.
The singer's long train looked like a patch of grass behind her, featuring even more pink flowers, according to the fan tweet posted to X.
At the top of her dress, though, a large semi-circular mushroom-like jacket stretched far above her head, covered in intricate decorations like birds and tree branches.
The lavish look - although stunning - was a little too good to be true.
Rihanna was not at this year's gala due to the flu, a source told People.
Met Gala 2024 Theme
The theme of the 2024 Met Gala is The Garden of Time, which draws inspiration from the latest exhibition of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, titled Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

Meanwhile, Katy was pictured in two separate looks, one of which was very similar to the Barbadian singer.
The massive ballgown featured an off-the-shoulder bodice with butterflies decorating the plunging neckline.
The look embodied a forest floor, with roses and flowers covering the skirt down to the bottom, which was designed to look like moss.
In a second red carpet look that was also mistaken as real, Katy posed in an outfit fit for a forest warrior.
In the same post on X, the pop singer's complexion looked extra pale as her dark hair was styled into a wet look.
She sported a tarnished metal corset featuring a massive key detail down the center.

In the AI-generated image, Katy paired the top with a high-low skirt made of draping greenery and pale green flowers.
Critics slammed the images on X, with several claiming the trick "ruined their night."
