Chappell Roan shares ‘iconic’ reason she refused to perform at White House as fans say ‘she gained all our respect!’
SINGER Chappell Roan has been praised by fans for sharing why she refused to perform at The White House.
On Sunday, Chappell, 26, performed at the Governors Ball Music Festival at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in New York.
The up-and-coming pop star had her skin painted green and her eyes covered in dark ink.
She strutted across the stage in a sparkly Statue of Liberty costume and wore checkerboard gloves.
The My Kink Is Karma singer dedicated her hit track to The White House.
“In response to the White House, who asked me to perform for Pride [Month],” she said to the mic.

"When you do that, that’s when I’ll come," Chappell closed with.
Later on, before playing Hot to Go, the singer explained her costume pick.
“But in case you had forgotten what’s etched on my pretty little toes, ‘Give me your tired, your poor; your huddled masses yearning to breath free,'” she quoted, referring to a portion of the poem written on the statue's pedestal.

A rep for the star confirmed to Variety that the White House did reach out to her through her management, but she declined the President's House.
