KATIE Holmes has gushed over her daughter Suri after the 18-year-old graduated high school.
The Dawson's Creek star, 45, shares her daughter with her ex-husband Tom Cruise, 62.

Katie, who has attempted to keep her daughter out of the spotlight throughout her childhood, provided rare comments about Suri heading to college while speaking with Town & Country for their September 2024 issue.
The 18-year-old graduated from her New York City high school in June.
"I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her and I’m happy," she told the outlet.
"I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that,” Katie added.

Katie was recently seen flashing a big smile alongside Suri while celebrating the teen's high school graduation at the United Palace Theatre in New York City.
Suri wore her bright red graduation gown over a white dress.
She paired the look with a pair of heels.
The teenager held on to her graduation cap as she hung out on the Manhattan block while chatting it up with loved ones, most notably her mother Katie.

The 18-year-old hasn't seen her father since her mom, actress Katie Holmes, divorced him when she was five.
Katie, 44, gained sole custody of Suri in 2012 and a generous settlement from her ex-husband.
Many fans believe that the reason behind the split was Tom's association with the cult-like religion of Scientology.
After the divorce, Katie went off the grid with her daughter as they rebuilt their lives in New York, 2,400 miles away from the action star.
The actor has been accused of putting his religion before his daughter, with ex-Scientologists claiming he has been ordered to shun the Dawson's Creek star and their child as non-believers.
High-profile former church member Samantha Domingo, daughter-in-law of opera singer Placido, said in 2019, “You can’t be anti-Scientology if you’re part of Tom’s family, you will be disconnected — look at his daughter Suri.”
She added that the church, which believes mankind is descended from an alien race of gods, viewed Suri “as a spiritual being in Tom’s daughter’s body."
Despite his estrangement from the teen, the Top Gun star has remained in contact with his two older children, Isabella, 31, and Connor, 29, — who are both heavily involved in Scientology.
Tom adopted the two while married to his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, who has also allegedly been cut from their lives as a “suppressed person” — SP — someone who does not believe in the church.
At one point, the mother and daughter hugged while smiling and taking photos on Suri's big day following years of hard work at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
The joyous day comes just two months after the actress missed Suri's big 18th birthday - the high school grad was instead seen on a solo outing.
Suri is now expected to attened Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to study design.

Many suspected that Tom's relations with the Church of Scientology could be the reason for his divorce from Katie.

As for Suri, following her 18th birthday, it is believed she may have changed her last name.
in May, she was listed on the casting sheet as Suri Noelle while recently performing in Head Over Heels on Broadway.
Noelle is her mother's middle name, and the two have developed a strong bond throughout their years living together in New York City.
The actress's name is still listed as Suri Cruise on her birth certificate.

But Suri seemingly has no relationship with her action-movie dad, as they've been estranged since she was a young child.
Tom has denied cutting his daughter out of his life and in 2013, he sued the publisher of two magazines he felt had implied that he had “abandoned” her.
