Golden Globe nominees James Corden & Lily Collins mocked for ‘mediocre’ performances in The Prom & Emily in Paris

James, 42, is up for the award of Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy for his role of Barry Glickman in The Prom.

The film was adapted from the 2018 Broadway musical of the same name, and James was the only one to get a nomination for it, despite the cast also featuring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, and Kerry Washington.

When the film was released on Netflix in early December, the late night host’s performance was immediately panned, with both viewers and critics calling his portrayal “gross” and saying he should’ve been “banned” from the movie.

Even still, he got a nomination for it, and fans are angry and confused.

One Twitter user asked: “Did James Corden really just get nominated for The Prom or am I in the middle of a horrible nightmare?”

Another wrote: “Even if you ignore how offensively miscast james corden was in the prom, it was just a horrible performance.

“Like how on earth was he nominated? It was just bad. He doesn’t even crack the top 10 performances in the prom but he gets a #GoldenGlobes nom?”

A third wondered: “Why James Corden, Jared [Leto], Lily Collins? Also Michaela Cole was completely shut out.”

Lily, 31, is nominated for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy TV Series for her Netflix series, Emily in Paris.

The show stayed in the Top 10 on the streaming platform for weeks after its early October release, and it was renewed for a Season 2.

Many of those who watched the series tweeted about it being fun to watch but nothing too exceptional, which is why they were surprised to see both Emily in Paris and its star become Golden Globe 2021 nominees.

A second asked: “Why the f*** is Lily Collins nominated for Best Actress at #GoldenGlobes ?!? Hahaha.”

A third angrily stated: “emily in paris is actively a horrible show and it being nominated for a golden globe along with a nod for lily collins is going to play a huge role in my villain origin story”
