Joey Essex took to the ice rink for the first time last Sunday, and he has already fallen head over heels for his dance partner.

After being paired up with professional Vanessa Bauer for the competition, Joey recently opened up about falling for her.

“I’m truly blessed to be paired with Vanessa, I was very happy,” Joey said with a smile in an exclusive chat ahead of the series.

He added: “You’re close and you are touching each other’s legs . . . and everywhere else. You are very intimate and it can happen.

“Honestly I don’t know how people do this show when they’re married — it would be a disaster.

“People were saying to me, like, ‘If I was married . . . God!’ Lucky I ain’t got a ring on my finger, eh?”

Since being paired together in November, Joey and Vanessa, 26, have become almost inseparable.

  • Look back at the funniest moments

EastEnders actor Todd Carty had an unforgettable stint during the fourth series in 2009.

His first two routines failed to impress the judges, but it was during week 3 when he lost total control.

The former Grange Hill star stumbled and then, in a panic, completely slid out of vision away from the cameras into the backstage area.

This meant his professional partner, Susie Lipanova, was left to finish the routine alone on the ice.

Eventually, the actor made it back into the rink for the final pose as the dance was just coming to an end as he left the judges, studio audience, and viewers at home in absolute hysterics.

  • Contestant has secret connection to judge

Carley Stenson has exclusively revealed that she is friends with judge Oti Mabuse off screen.

Carley, 40, who first became a household name in 2000 when she played Steph Cunningham in Hollyoaks, is now following in the footsteps of husband Danny Mac.

Well the ice version of it anyway as Danny appeared on Strictly Come Dancing in 2016.

And it’s because of this link that Carley, who is a mum of one, is “fierce friends” with Dancing On Ice judge Oti.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Carley explained: “Thinking about it, it genuinely does give me a little bit [pretends to be sick].”

  • Emily Symons performed in a daring outfit in 2007

Home and Away star and former Emmerdale actress Emily sizzled in her own naked-style dress back in the second series of the show.

Her look from 2007, which included a sheer bodysuit and silver glitter, covered her modesty with two silver patches.

Meanwhile, the leotard was fixed with a tiny miniskirt to hide her bum while twisting and turning on the ice.

  • Former professional skater reveals how viewers can figure out this year’s finalists

32-year-old Dancing On Ice professional skater Alex Murphy has revealed how viewers can figure out who will make it to the final of the 2023 series

She starred on the ITV show between 2018 and 2020.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Alex said: “The ones that want to go far… you’ll know from the beginning.

“They’ll want to dedicate themselves to it, you do put your life on hold for a few months.

“Their personal lives and their work lives on hold to dedicate themselves to make the show really good!”

Alex won Dancing On Ice with Joe Swash in 2020.

  • Star reveals move they are not allowed to do

Carley Stenson has been prevented from attempting the show’s most dangerous move – by her mum.

The actress, 40, who will performing for the first time this weekend, said she “promised” her mum that she would avoid the very risky ice skating move.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun on whether she plans to incorporate the move into her routine , Carley said: “I’m not allowed to me mum said I’m not allowed. No genuinely.

“We’ve said we’re going to try something just as challenging and just as impressive.

“So that’s a lot of homework for Mark. And me mum made me promise.”

  • Darren Harriott reveals biggest competition

In an exclusive chat with The Sun, Darren, 34, has revealed who he thinks is his biggest competition.

Darren said: “If I was to pick, I would say it’s between Joey, Nile, Vivienne or Carly because I’ve seen them skate probably the most.

“There’s still people I haven’t seen actually skate! I would say those, because they all have something different.

“Whether it’s loads of charisma on the ice, confidence on the ice, great skating technique or musicality and ability to sell a routine.

“I’d say it’s out of those four for me. They’re all great.

“Also, we’re all the most eager to get on the ice. So that lets me know we all have that in common, so it’s probably those guys.”

  • Ekin-Su will be back next week

The Love Island winner, 28, skated to Toxic by Britney Spears with pro partner Brendyn Hatfield, 37, last week in a nude bodysuit.

But the leotard sparked over 100 Ofcom complaints and a flurry of tweets complaing about the racy outfit.

Despite this, many fans have come to her aid with one saying: "Oh please give it a rest! Nothing wrong with her costume she’s fully covered!!"

A second added: "There's a lot of negativity towards Ekin Su. Complain to ITV if it's a problem as the celebs don't choose the outfits or choreograph their routine. Due to the song used, everything was clearly Britney inspired and enjoying it. So let's #BeKind or switch channels."

Ekin-Su later wowed fans with another eye-catching outfit in the skate-off.

  • Ekin-Su breaks down in tears

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu said she broke down in tears after her troubled Dancing On Ice debut.

John, 62, who is partnered up with pro-skater Alexandra performed a lively routine to Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum for the dance off.

But after failing to impress, he waved goodbye to the show, with viewers devastated at the result.
