Love Island 2022 winners Ekin Su and Davide ‘snub’ show as it crowns new champions

LOVE Island 2022 winners Ekin Su and Davide surprised fans last night when they failed to post about the show crowning its new champions.

The couple snubbed the series online as dozens of former Islanders shared their excitement around the grande finale.

Ekin-Su and Davide, who shot to fame in the ITV2 villa last summer, instead promoted their new travel show on YouTube.

They launched the first episode as Love Island's Winter series ended just after 10pm.

Dancing On Ice star Ekin-Su, 28, took to Instagram to promote the series which kicked off in the Maldives.

She captioned their video: "We are really excited to share with you our first ever holiday vlog together.

"It was last min decision we decided to film it with a go pro, so you will see a lot of natural funny moments together, no actresses and lies!"

"We’ll appreciate the support."

Despite ignoring Love Island altogether, it didn't stop Ekin-Su and Davide being the talk of Twitter during the tense final.

One fan said after villa favourites Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan won the show: "Nothing beats last year where last seasons cast gathered together, all got on well, watched the final and all sat there recording and chanting for Ekin-Su and Davide to win."

Another person said: "Well, there you go. #loveisland is done. It was a bit bland tbh. It's better when you get contestants with personality - Ekin-Su, Faye, Olivia know what I mean?"

And a viewer third typed: "First Davide and Ekin-Su and now Kai and Sanam - the UK can finally be trusted with a vote."

Kai and Sanam, both 24, managed to beat competitive rivals Tom Clare & Samie Elishi and Lana Jenkins, 25, & Ron Hall, 26, and Shaq Muhammad, 24, & Tanya Manhenga, 22, to win the £50,000 prize.

Despite being together for the least amount of time compared to their co-stars, the winning couple were backed by bookies - with Paddy Power offering 1/3 odds they'd win.

"Literally she blew me away straight away," Kai told host Maya Jama after they were revealed as the winners as he shared his first impressions of Sanam.

"For me, it was always Kai. I always said he was my number one," Sanam added, before dropping the L-bomb without realising it.

Sanam covered her mouth in shock after letting slip that she "fell in love" with Kai in the villa.
