Diane, 53, a fans’ favourite on the blockbuster ITV show in the 1990s, said she is “very happy” as she showed off her wife-to-be on a US podcast.

The couple cuddled up on screen before her partner, called Zoe, said: “I haven’t done my hair.

“I feel really embarrassed.”

Diane admitted she had been “put off relationships for life” after moving to North West England for a failed love interest which ended badly.

But she said: “Just over a year ago, a gorgeous lady approached me in my local supermarket.

“Over a year later, we’re going to get married.

“We are what we are.

“It doesn’t matter. And I don’t give a damn.

“I’m safe and I’m loved and there’s no threat to me anymore and that’s what means the world to me.”

Diane opened up to actress Lori Fetrick, who played Ice in American Gladiators — the original US version of the gameshow.

Lori, 60, who publicly came out as gay in 2008, told Diane: “Today’s day and age, people are so accepting of everyone and it doesn’t matter who you are because it’s a matter of who you are as a person.”

She added on her Chillin’ with Ice podcast: “It shouldn’t matter who your partner is.”

Teesside-born Diane starred in Gladiators from 1992 to 1996 after a producer spotted her in a fitness magazine aged 22.

She previously spoke of having a love affair with former Gladiators co-star James Crossley — known as Hunter.

Diane left the ITV show, which was presented by Ulrika Jonsson and John Fashanu, after suffering a serious neck injury.

A reboot set to be hosted by The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh and his son Barney is due to air on the BBC later this year.

Ulrika previously revealed there was a lot of “bed-hopping” behind the scenes of the show at a hotel close to filming.

She added: “As there would be with a bunch of young, virile men and women with insane bodies.”
