MOLLY-MAE Hague has had her fair share of criticism, from being slammed for showing off her vast wealth, to being accused of "poverty shaming".

However, since giving birth to daughter Bambi in January last year, we have seen a different side to the Love Island star.

Molly has been very candid about how difficult she has found motherhood, from admitting that it is "100% harder" than she thought, to sharing her struggle to accept her post-baby body.

Fabulous spoke to Celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins to find out how the former PrettyLittleThing creative director has used motherhood to transform her public image from unrelatable to a down-to-earth mum, and how her soon-to-be sister-in-law Paris Fury has given her a helping hand.

HUMANISATION

As social media shows us a perfect version of someone's life, it is often easy to forget that celebrities like Molly-Mae are people, just like us.

Back in 2022, the star was slated online after she appeared on an episode of Steven Bartlett's podcast, Diary Of A CEO.

In the podcast, Molly said: "Beyoncé has the same 24 hours in the day that we do and I just think, like, you're given one life and it's up to you what you do with it, you can literally go in any direction."

This comment was heavily criticised and Molly was accused of being out of touch and not taking into account that many people have to spend a lot of their days caring for family members or working multiple jobs to get by.

However, since giving birth to her first child, Molly has been sharing more down-to-earth opinions online.

Despite taking Bambi on a constant stream of holidays, and decking her out in designer clothes, Molly has had a similar experience as a first-time mum to many of us.

Posting on her YouTube channel when her daughter was just a few months old, Molly revealed that becoming a mother had left her feeling "zombified".

She said: "I cannot explain to you how tired I am right now and I had ten hours sleep last night.

"Normally I have about four or five and I'm rocking and rolling with that."

She continued: "I'm functioning, I'm living life, I'm breathing air and cracking on with mum's life.

"But after last night I literally feel half-zombified. What's going on?"

Celebrity PR expert Ed Hopkins said that by humanising herself, Molly has been able to gain the trust of her audience.

He told Fabulous: "By candidly sharing her experiences of motherhood, including the challenges and insecurities she faces, Molly-Mae has humanised herself in the eyes of her followers.

"This authenticity has allowed her to rebuild trust and resonate with a wider demographic, demonstrating vulnerability and relatability that was perhaps lacking in her previous public persona."

AUTHENTICITY

Since giving birth, Molly has been very open about the body confidence issues she has faced.

In a recent Instagram Q&A, the star said that she doesn't like summer because it's too hot to wear tracksuits to cover up her body.

She also previously revealed that she doesn't think that she will ever be able to wear a bikini again.

Speaking on her YouTube channel, Molly shared: "Before I had a baby I didn't feel confident in a bikini, so after having a baby I don't picture myself ever thinking 'I'll slip a bikini on and feel amazing'."

Ed said that by openly discussing these issues, Molly is painting herself as an authentic and trustworthy character.

He said: "In an era where social media often perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards, her openness about her own struggles serves as a refreshing reminder that even those in the spotlight face insecurities."

PARIS' FRIENDSHIP

Molly's soon-to-be sister-in-law Paris Fury (who is married to her fiancé Tommy's older brother Tyson) has seven children and often shares very relatable down-to-earth insights into life as a busy mum.

Despite her husband's reported £70 million fortune, Paris has revealed that she is no different to the rest of us when it comes to being a mother, from being up at 5:30am with her teething baby to sharing her panic at the school morning rush.

Ed said that through this friendship, Molly has likely learned a lot about how to appear relatable to the general public.

He said: "Paris Fury is the soon-to-be sister-in-law to Molly-Mae.
