FROM a rise in food to fuel prices, the cost-of-living crisis has impacted households up and down the country.
So it's little surprise people are desperately trying to cut back on costs wherever they can.

But one woman, who has admitted that money has been "tight" for her since Covid, has started a conversation around people's genius and "uncommon" money-saving tips.
In the thread shared to Munsnet, she penned: "I'm wondering if anyone has any not so common money saving tips that you don't hear about that often.
"Things have always been tight for us and since COVID I must have read a hundred different articles and threads about saving money but it just seems to be the same tips that get brought out over and over again."
She then went on to share a couple of hers - including that she hasn't had a haircut in years.
Instead, the savvy woman notes that when it gets too long, she simply cuts it herself following videos on YouTube.
Not stopping there, the money-saving whizz also points out that she turns down the boiler temperature and keeps the showers as cold as she can tolerate to help reduce the gas bill.

"My showers aren't cold but are warm rather than hot and I noticed a significant drop in gas consumption," she wrote.
And it wasn't long before other mindful homeowners took to the comments section to share their own useful money-saving tips and tricks.

A second helpfully told how they replenish their wardrobe on the cheap by buying clothes out of season, so winter clothes in summer and vice versa.
Another commented: "When I’m in the shower, I keep the plug in.
"The heat from the water makes the bathroom just a little bit warmer on cold days."
Meanwhile, a further revealed that she leaves the water in the bath when she's done and the door open.
Ways to spend less in a supermarket
Grocery inflation means we're all feeling the pinch but shopping with these points in mind could save you hundreds of pounds a year:
- Avoid shopping at convenience stores - they charge more
- Ask in-store at what times in the day are fresh food items reduced
- Freeze yellow sticker items where you can
- Plan meals ahead
- Try own-label of budget brand alternatives
- Use unit pricings to find the best deals
