And the good news is, there's no pricey air con in sight either...

Superintendent pharmacist Abbas Kanani, from Chemist Click, spoke to Fabulous Digital and revealed two genius methods she swears by for keeping cool on a budget.

While many of us will just reach for a fan, more often than not it does little more than blow warm air around the room.

That's why, according to Abbas, it could be worth adding ice blocks into a bowl, which is then positioned in front of the fan.

And the savvy pharmacist has even revealed a clever way to make the ice last longer - using a 26p kitchen essential you'll likely already have in your cupboards.

"Adding a small amount of salt to the water before freezing can lower the freezing point, making the ice last longer," she explains.

"You can put ice blocks in a shallow pan or tray and position in front of a fan.

"This will help to blow cool air as the ice melts and lower the room temperature."

Secondly, Abbas recommends using blackout blinds or blackout window film on the windows in your home.

"They are effective in blocking out sunlight and keeping rooms cool during the day, which in turn can help you get a good night's sleep," she says.

"You can buy them cheaply online, made from paper or window film costing between £6-£20.

"The film is usually removable and reusable too."

It comes after Fabulous previously revealed how mums were raving over a £6 bargain buy that stops her kids from waking up ‘stupidly early’ because of the sun.

Taking to Facebook group B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and More, Amy shared a snap of the 'Temporary Paper Blackout Blinds' from Dunelm.

Alongside the image, she wrote: "My kids kept waking up stupidly early because of the sun… these are so good for the price!

"I did two balcony door windows in my kids’ room.

"Not very aesthetically pleasing but definitely do the job!"

She continued: "£6.50. They have double sided tape on to attach to the window but could work if you bought Velcro so they can be took down as and when!"

How to stay safe in hot weather

The UK Health Security Agency advised you follow these tips to reduce your risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and heatstroke:

  • Keep out of the sun at the hottest time of the day, between 11am and 3pm
  • If you are going to do a physical activity like exercising or walking the dog, plan to do these during times of the day when it is cooler such as the morning or evening
  • Keep your home cool by closing windows and curtains in rooms that face the sun
  • If you go outside, cover up with light clothing, a hat and sunglasses and slather on sun cream
  • Drink plenty of fluids but limit booze
  • Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke and what to do if you or someone else has them
  • Check on family, friends and neighbours who may be at higher risk of becoming unwell, and if you are at higher risk, ask them to do the same for you
