Instead, one savvy homeowner has revealed how she gave her tired-looking outdoor space a total makeover on a budget - and it cost as little as £22.99.

And, no, it's not the shower curtain which has taken social media by storm over the past few years.

Similar to the popular trend which sees people buying shower curtains with scenic or exotic prints on them, and hanging them on their garden fence or wall, Sheila instead opted to purchase a plant-inspired mural online.

The stunning tapestry, which features a selection of shrubs and plants that help to add a pop of colour to the outdoor space, blends in seamlessly with the rest of the surroundings in Sheila's garden.

And perhaps the biggest perk of all?

Well done - it looks beautiful!

It's saved her from having to paint her fence and fork out for expert help.

Taking to the Gardening on a Budget Official Facebook group, Sheila shared a selection of gorgeous snaps of her colourful outdoor haven.

Alongside the post, she penned: "Not being able to maintain a garden anymore I'm using garden murals to add colour and save me maintaining the walls and fences.

"This one is 4m x 1.8.

"Not everyone's cup of tea but cheaper than paint and paying someone to do it."

I gave my boring garden a bougie spruce up using cheap buys from Home Bargains - I got so much done for just £50

Speaking to Fabulous Digital, Sheila explained how she bought the head-turning tapestry backdrop from a company called muralgardens.com.

The online product description reads: "Transform your garden, see the world through a lens of magic, with our Mural Gardens HD digital Mural Tapestry Backdrops using the same waterproof material as Shower Curtains."

Depending on size, prices range from £22.99 - £44.99.

Turning your garden into an oasis - using a shower curtain

By Veronica Lorraine, Gardening Editor

WHILE Italy boasts beautiful frescos and the Greek fill their gardens with statues, columns and plinths, it feels a little jarring to see that Brits are turning to £10 shower curtains to vastly improve their views.

But hey, who am I to tell you what works in your own particular space.

The whole point of being outdoors is to feel calm, happy and hopeful, and if a piece of material depicting a rolling countryside makes you feel serene and gives you good holiday vibes, then absolutely go for it.

I guess the key is in the hanging - and making sure there's no glitches  in your fake gates or holes in the rolling hills.

And also, crucially,  making sure that no particles of plastic are shedding from the curtain and polluting the soil.

But bringing joy to your garden is the most important factor - and although it might not be everyone's cup of tea - sometimes you just have to fake it to make it.

It wasn't long before the comments section racked up several likes and comments from very impressed social media users.

"Looks great!" praised one person.

Another enthused: "Well done - it looks beautiful!"

And a further added: "Beautiful garden, Sheila."
