A WOMAN has been left raging after her husband made a comment about her school run outfit.

With the UK recently experiencing hot weather (only for it to go again) one mum decided to head to school in a cute dress which kept her cool, but it seemed her hubby wasn't a fan.

The mum took to social media to ask if her dress was inappropriate for the school run

She shared a picture of the adorable black dress she wore to keep her cool during the hot weather, which had a flowing skirt and cut-out back.

The mum also noted that her hair comes down past her waist so most of her back was covered anyway.

Taking to social media, she wrote: "Is this dress appropriate for school pick up? "

Sharing a picture of the model wearing the dress, she added: "I’m 5 ft 3. Hair as long as models so back is typically covered.

"Worn with flat nude sandals so very casual."

Many were baffled the mum even had to ask if it was inappropriate as they saw no problem with it.

But the mum was quick to add that it wasn't parents at the school gates judging her, it was her husband.

She revealed: "Comment from dh (husband).

Showed friends said dress. And someone said they would have thrown on a jacket.

"Didn’t realise this was Saudi Arabia," she added, clearly annoyed by the comments

The post soon garnered attention from multiple mums on Mumsnet who were quick to share their opinions in the comments.

Many couldn't see what the problem was and had no idea the school gate suddenly had a dress code.

One person wrote: "It's school pickup, not a cathedral wedding or an awards ceremony..? Anything that doesn't constitute public indecency is fine."

Another commented: "I didn't realise there was a dress code for school pick ups."

Is there a school run dress code?

While students and teachers have strict dress codes and uniform policies in the UK, there is nothing in place for parents.

Heading to your local school, you'll see a mixed bag of mums who like to dress up for the occasion and others who have rolled out of bed in their pyjamas.

While there's no set policy for parents, there is of course a limit to what you can wear without raising a few eyebrows.

Bikinis and dressing gowns are bound to turn heads, but at the end of the day it's up to you.

"I wouldn’t even give it a thought! Sounds very superficial, who cares what you wear and what anyone else thinks," penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: "Is school pick up an event? Since when did it have a dress code?"

"There are mums in the next street to me picking up in pyjamas and slippers. You'd look posh here,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “It looks fine to me. I am not sure what your husband and friends are thinking about. It does not need a jacket."
