Greg Bobinski decided his brand new vacuum cleaner needed a real test drive to see if he was getting his moneys worth.

That's when he decided to give it a whizz around the the carpets of his local Wetherspoons in Otley - and he was amazed by just how much dirt and grime his new buy collected.

Greg, who is a support worker and an artist and comedian in his spare time, shared the test in a viral TikTok, and the local punters looked pretty confused by his antics.

Wanting to make sure the vacuum was worth every penny, Greg didn't just clean one small section of the pub, but made sure to get into all the nooks and crannies.

The Wetherspoons staff didn't mind with the helping hand either, as Greg revealed the manager gave the go ahead for him to clean up.

After he was done collecting dust, Greg emptied out to contents of the vacuum cleaner and showed it off in another social media clip.

As you might expect, there was plenty of hair, dirt, and other random bits of junk.

But the test wasn't for nothing, Greg revealed that he plans to turn the vacuum contents into artwork and frame it.

"As filthy as I thought," one person commented on the video.

"Come and vacuum the spoons near me please, the floors are absolutely stinking," a second wrote.

Others praised Greg for cleaning the carpet, one said: "Doing god's work."

Another agreed: "Not all heroes wear capes."

Why do pubs have quirky carpets?

Punters at the "Primark of pubs" have long wondered why the chain has such colourful and varied carpets.

And now Jon Randall, Wetherspoon's head of property development and acquisitions, has revealed why it has such colourful carpet.

He previously revealed that the boozer likes to put emphasis on the design of its pubs, investing in every aspect and particularly the refurbishment.

He said: "All of our new pub carpets are individually designed, some with details to reflect aspects of the buildings’ history or local area."

But fans of the chain noted that the carpet might also have another reason for it's funky patterns - to hide dirt.

"They have those funky carpets to hide grime," one person commented on Greg's clip.

How can I save money at Wetherspoons?

FREE refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day.

Check a map - Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other.

So if you're planning a pint at a Spoons, it's worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you're settling in at the cheapest.

Choose your day - Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights.

For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual.

Pick-up vouchers - Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled.

Get appy - The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table - but you don't need to be in the pub to use it.

Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play.

Check the date - Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.

It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.

As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
