However, one savvy mum has revealed the three buys she will always get from Lidl in favour of the more expensive, branded originals.

Gemma Bird, aka Money Mum, took to TikTok to share the products she stocks up on in the supermarket, kicking off with their Peperami dupe.

"Look at this," she said as she held a five-pack of the Salami snacking sticks for £1.99.

The original meat snacks come in at £2.99 for five in most supermarkets.

"These are Peperamis and they taste exactly the same."

Next up was the Nutella dupe - Choco Nussa Chocolate Hazelnut spread, which she called "absolutely banging".

It also comes in at £1.69 for a 400g jar, compared to £3.45 for a 350g jar in Sainsbury's.

And lastly, Gemma raved about the Neo biscuit dupe of Oreos, adding: "Oh my God, trust me - you have to try them!"

"I'm sorry but they taste the same and are so much cheaper," Gemma wrote over the top of her video.

Gemma does also shop at Tesco, and has a hack for finding the freshest food in the supermarket.

In another video on TikTok, she revealed that the codes on the front of the packaging, demonstrating on a pack of leeks which had "F18".

"The F is the month! So June is F, as that's month 6. January would be an A," she said.

"Did you know this?" she wrote in the caption.

As the comments section was immediately filled with people admitting they were blown away by the revelation.

"OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!" one wrote.

"I always get so confused!

"When I see those letter and numbers I never knew what was it about and ended throwing them because unsure."

Why do Aldi and Lidl have such fast checkouts

IF you’ve ever shopped in Aldi or Lidl then you’ll probably have experienced its ultra-fast checkout staff.

Aldi’s speedy reputation is no mistake, in fact, the supermarket claims that its tills are 40 per cent quicker than rivals.

It’s all part of Aldi’s plan to be as efficient as possible - and this, the budget shop claims, helps keep costs low for shoppers.

Efficient barcodes on packaging means staff are able to scan items as quickly as possible, with the majority of products having multiple barcodes to speed up the process.

It also uses “shelf-ready” packaging which keeps costs low when it comes to replenishing stock.

"Goodness thank you I had no idea what this meant on packaging!" another added.

"Oh wooow, what a life hack," a third praised.

"They are called Julian codes," someone else revealed.

"That's why you go for the ones in the back," another wrote.

"Are you sure about this?" someone else asked.
