SNIFF OUT A BARGAIN

I found large Yankee Candles scanning for £1.50 so filled my trolley two days in a row – people say I’m the worst

A SAVVY shopper was branded the "worst kind of person" after stocking up on Yankee Candles in a supermarket sale.

Gaynor, from Glasgow, spotted the scent boosting items scanning in her local Asda for as little as £1.20.

Sharing her incredible find on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, she said: “Bargain in Asda tonight all £1.50 and under.”

In her first haul, Gaynor nabbed six of the full sized fizzy fruit punch Yankee Candles and three of the citrus spice candles for £1.50 each, down from £11.50.

She also bagged two of the home inspiration midnight magnolia scents in the medium jar, which usually cost £13 but were reduced to £1.20.

The savvy shopper then returned the following day and filled her trolley again.

This time around, she managed to pick up at least 22 Yankee Candles in the sale, with her trolley filled with the jars.

She said: "We’ll look what I got more of today .

"Large Yankee £1.50, smaller Yankee £1.20 in Asda."

Gaynor's posts have racked up thousands of likes and comments on Facebook, but have left social media users divided.

Some have applauded her bargain finds, as one said: "I’d have a trolley full too."

A second wrote: "I'd have cleared the shelf too lol. Loveee candles."

A third agreed: "Good for you, I would have taken the lot too."

Meanwhile, a fourth joked: "Well we can guess what people are getting for Christmas this year lol."

Others, however, have slammed the bargain hunter for clearing the shelves.

One fumed: "You won’t find any cuz she got them all… ridiculous."

A second wrote: "The worst kind of person."

A third added: "Tells people of great bargains for good prices. Buys loads so there isn’t any left for anyone else."

And after another blasted “Why post when you’ve left nothing for other people?”, Gaynor hit back: “I’m sure you are hundreds of miles away from me and correct me if I’m wrong is this not a bargain page?”

Indeed, it seems the deal is subject to availability in different stores.

A shopper insisted she found a medium Yankee Candle for just 79p and a large one for £2 in Portsmouth.

But many Facebook users have been left disappointed after scouring the shelves in their local stores.

"Tried both my Asda's, nothing", one said.

Another asked: “Why do we never find these bargains?"

And a third user claimed: “I always miss these bargains.”

If you are a Yankee Candle fan, here's what a label on the front of the jars means – and it’s bad news for shoppers who love a bargain.

Only some Yankee Candles have the 'Home Inspiration' label below the company's logo.

And a former employee has claimed it means the quality of the scent is not as good.

She said: "Home Inspiration are not the original Yankee Candles.

"I work for Yankee Candles and get asked this question regularly. It's a cheaper version."
