TOASTIE WARM

I tried Glasgow Christmas market’s festive specials – here’s my top snack pick

We found something you can only get at Christmas!

CHRISTMAS markets are here! Meaning scores of festive fans are taking to city centres ready to enjoy some yuletide treats.

With stalls packed with delicious food, Christmas trinkets and fairground rides that will see you soar in the skies, there is plenty to choose from.

To get into the Christmas spirit, our reporter visited the St Enoch Winterfest to try out some of the food on offer.

After walking around we could see plenty was to be had.

Everything from classic dirty fries and mac and cheese to pizzas and burgers.

There was some international cuisine on offer, with stalls selling Chinese food and Greek Gyros to help keep you warm in the Glasgow winter.

And for those of you who prefer something sweet, you can get doughnuts, crepes, churros and even deep-fried Oreos.

But we were looking for something really Christmassy, something we could only get this time of year.

That's when we found the 'Christmas Special'.

One stall selling toasties was offering a full Christmas dinner between two slices of bread.

The festive treat is packed full of turkey, brie, cranberry sauce and of course, some stuffing.

To top it all off, you can get a pot of thick gravy to dip the toastie in, and we just had to try it.

The whole festive food cost £10, after paying the extra £2 for our dipping gravy.

And it is safe to say the food did not disappoint.

Although sceptical at a Christmas dinner toastie, it was absolutely delicious!

The toastie is stuffed full of flavour which all blends well.

It is not too filling, is easy to eat and keeps you going as you wander around the markets - but maybe don't eat it before going on a ride, that might not end well.

And for those unsure about gravy, it is optional, but I would recommend it!

It only adds to how good it tastes and who can have a Christmas dinner without gravy?

Although messy eaters beware! I did end up wearing some of it on my jacket.
