"Would be nice if they actually worked," the woman seethed in a comment on Facebook.

"We have had them at both stores in Lincoln Nebraska for a month plus now, and they don't work."

"So you do your 'scan and go,' then stand in a line, waiting for them to scan all your stuff again, she continued.

"So far, it appears to be a complete waste of money on Sam's part."

The retailer implemented the new system in an attempt to lessen the amount of time customers would spend getting their receipts checked by staff.

According to the store, the artificial intelligence machine is meant to scan the customer's cart as they leave the store.

Shortly after the customer pays, the computer takes a picture of the items in the cart and then verifies the payment for the items as they exit the store.

However, one user initially seemed skeptical about the new technology.

"If' 'it checks out', what could possibly go wrong if it erroneously accuses one a crime, not to speak of more joblessness as regrettably the future of humanity gets bleaker by the day," read a post on X.

In an attempt to soothe the worries of its clients, Sam's Club made a s statement regarding the scanners.

‘Time to cancel!’ cries member after being charged $8 fee – and they ‘thought Sam’s Club was cheaper’

"We aspire to be the most convenient place to shop," according to Sam’s Club Chief Merchant Megan Crozier during the Walmart Keynote.

"At Sam's Club, we care about every second a member spends with us so eliminating even the few seconds it takes to scan a receipt at the exit door is well worth it," Crozier said.

According to Crozier, the chain retailer plans to roll out the technology to its 600 stores by the end of the year, per a press release.

Unfortunately, it seems the brand-new measure is causing more of a headache than help.

One person recently complained that she was told that she couldn't bag her own groceries due to the fact that it interfered with the scanner.

"I like to bag my stuff as I scan it- you can’t do that with this device, or so I was told by an employee preemptively to our overhead scanner 'going live,'" she wrote in the comments of a Facebook post.

"To me, it’s an inconvenience- it means handling items more times."

According to the woman, she found that bagging her own items as she scanned to be simpler.

"My preference is to bag as I scan then have folks scan my receipt and 3 items," she added.

"With the new system, I can’t bag as I go because the overhead scanner relies on all your stuff being left unbagged.

"Just a personal preference; for me it’s a minor inconvenience. That’s all."
