McDonald’s apologizes to ‘disappointed’ fans as employees have ‘no idea’ about new Collector’s Meal cups at drive-thru
The Collector's Meal cups come in six unique designs
SOME McDonald's fans have been furious over the chain's new Collector's Meal offering.
The nostalgic addition to the menu was confirmed earlier this month, and customers could start getting their hands on it on Tuesday.

While the Collector's Meal doesn't come with never-before-seen food items on the menu, it allows customers to purchase unique cups with retro designs of McDonald's characters from the 1990s.
When ordering some beloved meals during breakfast and lunch hours, customers could start gathering one of several Collector's Meal cups at the drive-thru or in the dining area.
During breakfast, the Collector's Meal is the Sausage McMuffin with Egg sandwich with a hash brown and coffee.
In the afternoon and onward, it's either the Big Mac and soft drink or a 10-piece Chicken McNugget and soft drink.

The cups offered in the Collector's Meal include six designs, including Barbie & Hot Wheels, Beanie Babies, Coca-Cola, and Classic McDonald's characters like Grimace, among others.
After the announcement, many feared that the cups would be gone immediately due to high demand, and some were already having trouble collecting the cups on the first day.
McDonald's post on X about the offering from August 7, encouraging customers to look for them now or regret it in 20 years, caught the attention of a disappointed customer Tuesday morning.
They claimed staff at their local McDonald's didn't know about the Collector's Meal, and an attempt to refresh employees' memories with their order didn't work.

"They had no idea what I was talking about when I tried to order this this morning," fumed the customer, Karie, on X.
"So I ordered the Sausage McMuffin with egg meal, thinking once I got to the window it would be worked out."

According to Karie, she didn't even want the Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal, but ordered it to ensure she got what she really wanted — the Collector's Meal cup.
"I ended up with a meal I didn't really want and no collector's cup," she wrote.
Karie added that she was "very disappointed" over the situation.
McDonald's quickly responded to Karie's complaint, offering to resolve it with more information.

"Karie, that doesn't seem right! Please share the restaurant location with us in a DM," the brand's official account replied.
Others cited different issues, such as getting all of the same cup or being unable to order the cups through the McDonald's mobile app.

Still, many other customers were able to start their Collector's Meal cup stash already.
"My daughter got it this morning, I think it's the best one out of all of them," a customer posted with a picture of the cup with McDonald's characters on it.
"Got the one I wanted," another wrote with an image of the Shrek cup.

McDonald's also caught the attention of customers with its $5 meal deal offering earlier this summer after promises to lower prices in 2024.
A new burger is also being offered in three markets on the McDonald's menu, but some have blasted the sandwich as "14oz of disappointment."
