The luxury car was ordered new by Sir Elton, 76, and kitted out with a bespoke Sony sound system - which itself cost almost £5,000.

Made to his personal specifications, the Aston Martin was finished in Seychelles Blue paintwork - a Rolls Royce colour - and complemented by an interior with blue-piped cream leather upholstery.

Only 426 Virages were made between 1988 and 1995, with the music icon forking out £129,950 to get his hands on one.

Sir Elton eventually sold the car in 1997 - and it was shifted between private owners before passing to its current keeper.

Auctioneer Lewis Rabett said: "It is an amazing car, a special order Sir Elton specifically asked for, and the colour suits the car so well. It still looks like a million dollars.

"In recent years, it has had a harder time and not been given the love it needs, but it is an amazing project to take on.

"The history is something you can’t replace, so it is a great car to work on.

"It is nice to have another world-renowned person’s car at our auction house."

The car boasts an automatic gearbox and just 14,000 miles on the clock.

And it's joined in Reeman Dansie’s classic cars auction by another vehicle with links to Sir Elton.

A 1977 Lincoln Continental Spitzer used in the Sir Elton biopic movie Rocketman is also up for grabs and expected to sell for up to £8,000.

Mr Rabett added: “It is a really impressive car.”

This comes after a rare Classic MK2 Ford Escort rally car went up for auction at an eye-watering price.

Plus, a classic Ford Escort RS Cosworth with only 39,300 miles is up for auction if you're looking for a new motor.
