A Brit teen footballer was found in a critical condition at the bottom of a swimming pool in Sweden.

The young athlete was pulled from the water in a "lifeless" condition by Swedish players, MailOnline reports.

Emergency services were called on Friday to treat the teen in Nolhaga Parkbad in Allingsås, some 25 miles north-east of Gothenburg.

Staff at the pool performed CPR on him until paramedics took over.

He was airlifted by helicopter to Sahlgrenska in Gothenburg, where he remains in a serious condition.

The pool was evacuated and shut down as cops probe the incident.

The Brit was competing in the prestigious Gothia Cup, the world's largest youth football event.

England has sent more than 128 teams from across the country to compete.

It comes after a British tourist died after being pulled unconscious from the water at a Greek island.

The woman, 66, was swimming at Achladies beach in Skiathos and reportedly lost consciousness due to the sweltering heat.

She was on holiday in Greece and went down from her hotel to the beach for a swim on Friday, CNN Greece reports.

But she was soon found by a lifeguard, who pulled her out of the water onto the shore.

The lifeguard and a doctor at the beach performed CPR on the 66-year-old as she was rushed to Skiathos Health Center, but were unable to revive her.
