Jackson revealed he has been evaluating and treating Trump's wound to his ear daily since the shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

Jackson, who represents the 13th Congressional District of Texas, confirmed that the former president sustained a gunshot wound to his right ear.

He explained that the bullet was less than a quarter inch away from Trump's head, calling it a "miracle" that he is still alive.

"In summary, former President Trump is doing well, and he is recovering as expected from the gunshot wound sustained last Saturday afternoon," Jackson wrote.

"I am extremely thankful his life was spared.

"It is an absolute miracle he wasn't killed."

In the memorandum, Jackson provided extensive detail on Trump's gunshot wound, explaining that the wound itself is around an inch wide and extended throughout the cartilage in the upper ear.

Jackson wrote that there was significant bleeding initially, as well as swelling of the whole upper ear.

In the week since the shooting, the swelling has gone down and the wound has begun to heal, the former White House physician said.

However, as ears are filled with many blood vessels, Jackson said there has been "intermittent bleeding" since which has required bandage dressings.

"Given the broad and blunt nature of the wound itself, no sutures were required," he continued.

Jackson also wrote that Trump will continue to have further evaluations, including a "comprehensive hearing exam."

The Texas congressman said he will be accompanying Trump to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where the former president is holding a rally on Saturday evening

"I will remain at his side throughout the weekend to provide any medical assistance he needs," Jackson said.

This week, Trump has made several appearances at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
