Nolan Lee, Estrada's roommate, confirmed the news in a social media post, revealing the teen was in a secure location.

"We want to thank everyone who helped throughout this process. Dozens of you reached out to us with ways to help locate him and more than 90 of you (some who didn't know us) wanted to provide us an ear to listen, or a shoulder to cry on throughout all of this," Lee wrote in an Instagram post.

"We have literally never seen such an outpour of love and community, and neither of us take it for granted.

"Our deepest gratitude to all those who reposted the graphics, who prayed for his return, and who did everything they could to bring him home."

Additional details about where Estrada was located were not immediately provided by the American University Police Department.

Estrada went missing on July 25 and was last spotted near a Wagshal’s grocery store in Northwest Washington DC.

Friends of the 19-year-old were worried after they couldn't get in touch with the teen.

"We do not know where he is, who he is with, or where he would be," Lee previously said in an Instagram post.

Lee said Estrada's parents are working alongside American University police and DC Metro police to help locate the missing teen.

"We are hoping this post is only temporary and that our brother comes home soon, but in the meantime, please, save, screenshot, and share this information as widely as you can," the devastated roommate pleaded.

Estrada told his friends he would return on the evening of July 25 but never did.

"We have not been about to contact our friend, Kris Estrada, (an AU Student) since 4 PM on Thursday, when he told us he would be back by the end of the night," friend Kaden Ouimet posted on social media on Sunday.

Estrada is a sophomore at American University and is originally from Santa Clara, California, according to the school newspaper The Eagle Online.

"We are working to obtain more information about reports of a student potentially being missing," Matthew Bennett, American University's vice president and chief communications officer, told ABC affiliate WUSA.

Bennett added that school police and the Division of Student Affairs have activated the university's missing persons protocol.
