Laci, 27, was eight months pregnant with their first child at the time.

Four months later, her body washed up on the shore of a nearby beach. Her unborn son, who the couple was going to name Conner, was found a mile away.

Scott, who was 30 at the time, was arrested days later.

When Laci first disappeared, her husband had told police that he'd returned from a Christmas fishing trip in the San Francisco Bay to find an empty house.

Frey claimed that Scott told her he was single during their relationship.

In 2002, she called the police and told them about her relationship with Scott when she saw Laci missing on the news.

To help investigators look into Scott, Frey agreed to secretly record her conversations with him over the phone - and the new docuseries has revealed phone calls between the two that have never been heard by the public before.

“So what do you want to be together with me?” Frey is heard asking Peterson in one of the recordings in the doc.

“For the rest of our lives I think we could care for each other,” Peterson replied.

MOTHER-IN-LAW'S INTERVIEW

Laci’s mother Sharon Rocha was also interviewed for the Netflix documentary.

Rocha claimed that her son-in-law never wanted to become a father - and that she didn't trust him when she first met him.

“Laci was telling me all these things about Scott,” Rocha said in a trailer for the three-part series.

“And I remember saying, as her mother, ‘I hope he’s not filling her with crap.'

“I have learned to go with my gut feeling.”
