FORMER Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has slammed Donald Trump and members of the party for focusing on Kamala Harris' lack of interviews rather than addressing her policies.

Despite Haley's, 52, endorsement of the former president at the Republican National Convention in July, the former South Carolina governor has some advice she thinks Trump, 78, should heed to win in November.

She spoke on Fox News' Special Report with Bret Baier arguing Trump and the GOP should acknowledge Harris', 59, policies instead of discussing the size of her rally crowds, her race, or questioning her intelligence.

"You can't win on those things. The American people are smart. Treat them like they're smart," she said, per Fox News.

"It's not about her. It's about the American people. Talk to them and let them know you need their vote."

She also said "Republicans should not be surprised that we are now running against Kamala Harris. It was her all the time."

Haley also urged Republicans to "quit whining" and "quit complaining" about how Harris has yet to give a formal interview or press conference since she replaced Joe Biden and received his endorsement.

"We knew it was going to be her. She's not going to give an interview," Haley said on Fox.

"They're going to hold out as long as they can. That's their right. They can do it. That doesn't mean we can't talk about what she believes in. And we should be getting out there and doing that."

The former presidential candidate said she "takes her [Harris] at her word" and Republicans "don't need" an interview with Harris.

"I take her at her word that she thinks that illegal immigrants should be able to vote and be given driver's licenses," she explained.

"I take her at her word that she wants to ban fracking and kill a bunch of US jobs. Take her at her word."

She also advised Trump to "campaign every single day" and to win, he's "got to go out and do the work."

LACK OF INTERVIEWS

Harris has been slammed by Trumpfor failing to hold a press conference and her repetitive rally speeches.

She has been accused of neglecting the press' questions and instead speaking only to supporters at her rallies.

The Democratic nominee, who announced her running mate Tim Walz earlier this month, stopped briefly on the tarmac to address reporters.

"What you got?!" she asked cooly as she gave short answers to questions.

She discussed an upcoming debate with Trump on September 10 and said she would be "happy" to discuss future debates.

In response to her lack of media appearances, she said, "I've talked to my team. I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month."

However, there have been no announcements about a press conference with the vice president.

'IN THE NAME OF UNITY'

In March, following the end of her White House campaign, Haley affirmed she would not be endorsing Trump for president.

However, she fell in line with other members of her party and declared she would be supporting the former president in November.

"Trump has not been perfect on these policies. I've made that clear many, many times," Haley told a crowd at the Hudson Institute during her first public appearance since dropping out.

"But Biden has been a catastrophe. So, I will be voting for Trump."

She added, "Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech.

"Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they're just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that."

Trump's main policy points

DONALD Trump closed the Republican National Convention on July 18, telling supporters he wanted to become president for "all Americans.

  • Implementing tax cuts, including no tax on tips
  • Protecting Social Security and Medicare - Trump said 'incomes will skyrocket and the middle class will prosper like never before'
  • Protecting borders - He pledged to end the 'border nightmare.' That means two things on day one - 'Drill baby Drill,' as he said, and close the borders
  • Finishing building the wall
  • Keeping our 'sons and daughters safe'
  • Replenishing the military and building a military 'dome' - Trump insisted he could stop wars with just a phone call and said no military would be able to penetrate the USA if he came into office
  • Ending the war in Ukraine and imposing tariffs on Iran
  • Vowing to "beat" China
  • Working to decrease prices and ease inflation
  • Bringing down the cost of energy
  • Making cities 'safe, clean and beautiful' again
  • Making it possible for Americans to buy gas-run cars by ending the electric vehicle mandate on the first day of his presidency

During the RNC in July, the former Ambassador was one of the many people who took the stage and addressed Republican voters.

"I haven't always agreed with Trump. But we agree more often than we disagree," she admitted.

"We agree on keeping America strong. We agree on keeping America safe. And we agree that Democrats have moved so far to the left that they are putting our freedoms in danger."

She went on to say, "President Trump asked me to speak to this convention in the name of unity. It was a gracious invitation and I was happy to accept."
