BRIAN Laundrie had $20,000 in his bank account when he died, court records show, even though he allegedly spent $1,000 on Gabby Petito's credit card after her death.

The 23-year-old was named a person of interest in Gabby’s murder in late August but disappeared himself and was found dead of an apparent suicide on October 22.

In July vlogger Gabby, 22, set off on a trip of a lifetime as she drove across the country with high school sweetheart and fiancé, Laundrie.

Yet Laundrie returned home alone in September in the van they were traveling in.

After hiring a lawyer and refusing to talk, he then vanished too — five days before Gabby’s remains were found in a shallow grave in Bridger–Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

While he was missing or potentially dead, it emerged Laundrie allegedly used an "unauthorized" Capital One debit card “in the District of Wyoming.

He allegedly swiped the Capital One debit card, running up a $1,000 balance, from August 31, four days after Gabby went missing, through September 1.

According to an indictment, he was accused of using the “unauthorized access device" to “obtain anything of value aggregating $1,000 or more," which was why there was a warrant out for his arrest.

But it has emerged Laundrie had $20,000 in the bank,

As he didn't have a will, an expert explained in a previous interview with The Sun that his dad Chris and mom Roberta had to go through the courts in a technical but common procedure in Florida.

According to court records obtained by Radar, Chris and Roberta filed a petition in Sarasota County court on December 8.

The couple are asking to become administrators of his estate.

The records show they submitted Brian’s death certificate in court along with information about his bank accounts and property.

Petito may have last been seen alive at a Jackson Hole restaurant on August 27.

He returned home to Florida alone in the couple's van on September 1, around two months into the couple's planned four-month cross-country road trip.

Laundrie immediately retained an attorney and refused to cooperate with the police.

Gabby's mother said she pleaded with Laundrie for answers about where her daughter was but received no reply.

She then reported Gabby missing to the police on September 11.

Three days later, on September 14, Laundrie vanished from his parent's home after telling them he was going hiking in the 24,000-acre Carlton Reserve.

On September 19, 2021, authorities in Wyoming announced a body was found in the area where the search for Petito had been underway.

The Petito lawyer later confirmed on September 21, that the body was identified as Gabby.
