Johnny Depp is suing his former ex-wife over a Washington Post article Heard wrote in 2018, in which she described herself as a domestic violence victim, despite the fact she didn't name her ex-husband.

Heard's attorney Ben Rottenborn has featured prominently in the trial.

According to his firm's website, "he has extensive experience representing clients in complex civil litigation matters involving issues in fiduciary duty, general commercial law, private equity/venture capital, securities, intellectual property, and products liability."

He had previously been a partner in the international law firm Kirkland & Ellis LLP's Chicago office.

Rottenborn is ranked as a rising star by Super Lawyers Virginia.

He graduated with highest distinction from the University of Virginia, where he's from.

He then went to Stanford, where he earned his law degree, he was president of Stanford Law and Policy Review.

After graduating, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable David G. Campbell, U.S. District Judge for the District of Arizona.

He's also been an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia School of Law.

Who are Woods Rogers?

Woods Rogers is the legal firm that Rottenborn represents.

They were founded in 1893 and have offices in Charlottesville, Richmond, Lynchburg, and Roanoke and are among the largest firms in Virginia.

They also serve as local counsel for firms outside the state with clients who need presentation in the commonwealth and Virginia's Eastern and Western District Courts.

Elaine Bredehoft is one of Heard's attorney’s.

According to the CBCB Law website, Bredehoft is originally from Minnesota.

Since 1984 she has been successfully trying cases in state and federal courts in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland.

Virginia Business magazine has referred to her as one of Virginia’s Legal Elite.

She has also been named one on the list of The Best Lawyers in America each year since 1997.
